Looks like someone is cleaning out their audio closet. Thanks for the head's up. I put a couple of items on my "watch list".I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. The Monarchy 18B and Adcom GDA-700 are extremely nice units and if you could pick them up under $300 that would be a steal.
Anyone looking at the Monarchy ask the seller if it's had the piggyback upgrade, if so, even more reason to buy it.

H9 - the 18B has been going for pennies on the dollar of late. I saw one scooped up for $130 in mint condition recently. Don't ask me why I didn't jump. Okay... I'm just not in the market for a pre right now and I feel I wouldn't be getting the most out of it if used solely as a DAC. Don't know if it had the piggyback upgrade. That being said, I haven't seen one go over $300 in a hot minute.I never had it like this where I grew up. I hear ya ZB, last time I looked at an 18B seriously was about 5 years ago and they could fetch anywhere from $275-400 so I guess maybe $300 today would be a bit high for the 18B.
Don't sell yourself short it's an outstanding DAC even by today's standards and if you ever run across another one at a bargain $$$ snatch it up, eff the pre section. It's still a great value if used only for Dac duties.
