Rti4s with Onkyo or Denon?

I have a pair of Rti4s and Csi3 with some R15s for surrounds that I use with my Onkyo 530 (from a htib system). It produces a pretty good sound but tends to be a bit bright at times. Does anyone know how the sound would be with a Denon 1907?

Feature-wise the Denon has a few more bells and whistles and I'm not sure if it would be worth a switch. Thanks for the help!

I've always thought Polk and Onkyo were a good match. That being said, many happy Denon owners here also. You're best bet with what you have, is to experiment with some entry level cables to tailor the sound to your liking.

Personally, I wouldn't. The bells and whistles generally are feature that rarely if ever get used. Both the Onk and the Denon will provide good results so, IMHO, unless you are unhappy per se with the Onk, I wouldn't bother.

I agree with RuSsMaN……….experience with cables. This will tame theRti4’s silk tweeters, but not as much as you would expect. The Onkyo and Denon are a very nice match with Rti series, but are on bright side.

I think what you mean “bright” is only if you play music. Right? Your system should be fine for HT movies. If you were thinking of getting a new receiver I would suggest one with preouts and integrate it with reasonably priced 2 channel external amp for music listening. There are a lot of amps that are on warm tube like sound and will tame any Rti tweeters.

Most receivers don’t have very good pre section and thus contribute to bright compressed sound quality.

Good quality high end interconnect cables, entry level higher quality speaker cables, component preamp section, component source, media quality (CD, DVD, vinyl etc.), listening room acoustics………..all of this factors will improve sound quality output of your speakers.
