My sister and fiancee are looking to set up a system. They have PSB speakers and a Def Tech 12 in powererd sub. They had a Onkyo receiver, but it kept going into protection mode when turned up. They think the speakers are 4 Ohms. I think they will be better off with a small amp and preamp. Nothing fancy! Anyone have anything? Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,
I have an Nikko Alpha 230 amp (120 @ 8 ohms, 240 @4 ohms), Beta 30 pre, and Gamma 30 tuner I'd sell as a set for $375 if picked-up. -
There you go...
-
How small do you want to go? I have some NAD and Kenwood stuff in the 20-50W range.
-
$375.00 is a great deal, more than they can afford.
Adcom 555 is a great amp, but again, more than they can afford.
Jon, what do you have in the NAD Kenwood stuff?
Thanks for the offers. Keep them coming. -
I'm in the middle of a couple of pending trades so I'm not sure what would be available, but here's a short list.
Integrated amps:
NAD 3220PE, 3045
Kenwood KA-305
Rotel RA-840BX
Receivers:
NAD 7020, 7120, 7250PE
Luxman R-106
I also have some bigger, older stuff but it wouldn't ship as well. -
Let me know when you are done with the trades. Thanks

I haven't checked on the preouts. That is a good idea. I will check with them.
They are trying to stay under $250.00.
I was thinking about a cheap Adcom amp like the 535 and any cheap preamp. They are just using it for stereo.
Just called them. He threw his receiver out. -
I use one of these older Kenwood pre amps.. lots of connections, three power outlets. and is what i use hooked up to a 2 channel amp for the SDA's. these usually go for about $50 to $65 on Ebay.

Ahoy,
I have what you are looking for, although a smidge over their budget. It's a Rotel system that is a few years old, but in great shape. Here's what I have:
Rotel RB-870BX amp, 100W or bridgeable to a 300W mono
Rotel RC-850 preamp
Rotel RT-850A tuner
I'd like to get $350 for the set. Let me know if you're interested and I can forward pictures.
Thanks. -
r we no longer going with the 25 post thing, maybe it should be dropped for wtb, when a member needs something and a newer member responds.
Jeff, if no one has something the NAD 2-channel pre's come on the Gon for around a 100 bucks, of course its hit or miss and would only leave 150 for the amp, possible but maybe lower powered at least the NAD can handle the loads.
