Newbie: Need help wiring

I have no experience with car audio at all.
I recently bought the dual 12" db212-2 sub box and
i'm hooking it up to my mono amp.. the problem is
the amp like wont go on? I dont know **** about hooking
up this so.. please let me know what i did wrong thank you
the amp will not go on?
ground (black?) is in GND
power (red) in batt
sub - is in the -
sub + is in the +

Did you check all the fuses? If those are OK then check the remote wire, ensure that there is voltage in that wire when you turn the car on.
If the remote wire is dead, do a quick jump from the + on the amp to the remote terminal with a small piece of wire, this will turn on the amp but DO NOT leave it like this, as it will always be on. This is just to test to see if the amp is good and will turn on.
Other than that, check your ground wire, make sure its a good ground.
If that fails, could be a dead amp?
If all fails, bring it to a pro, they shouldnt charge more than $60 to fix that mess of wires for you. -

i know what fuses are but how to check them i dont understand.. and im not exactly sure what a remote wire is/how to know if voltage is in it -
The remote wire in your picture would be your yellow wire. That is supposed to run back to your head unit(im assuming aftermarket) to probably a blue wire that is labeled "REMOTE".
Basically, this means that when you turn your car on and your radio powers up, it sends a signal in that wire back to your amp which turns your amp on. Without this wire your amp would always be on, leaving you with a dead battery, daily.
Since you say you did the install yourself, what did you hook up that yellow wire to? -

Your speakers are already wired for a 2 ohm load for your amp. I am confused why you have 2 sets of speaker wires running to your amp? There should be only 1 set of wires from the side of the box, single polk claims they only put one terminal on the box. + on the box to + on the amp, - on the box to - on the amp. Get rid of one of those sets of wires.
Oh, and that speaker wire you are using for your subwoofers, way too small of a gauge. Step it up a notch, that looks like regular midrange speaker wire, not subwoofer cable. -
i didnt hook up most of the stuff, only to the amp
im assuming the yellow is connected to head unit because there was an amp+sub in the car before.. i took face plate off not sure how to check head unit.. but anyway i do 4 guage wires i can use for the subwoofer so i'll try n figure that out but first i need to get the amp working... i do not have a 'grommet'/'ring thing' on the yellow one because.. the ones i have are too big is that a problem? -
no, but you need to see if that remote is properly hooked up.
I suggest if you really aren't that experienced with it to let a professional diagnose it for you. Despite costing money it could be cheaper than the alternative of you hooking up something wrong and frying some vehicle circuitry.
