Hi all,
Complete newbie here. Have done some browsing to find answers to some questions, and found bits a pieces of what I was looking for. So at the risk of repeating what might already be on other threads, here goes:
Just bought RM6005 speakers, PSW10 subwoofer and a JVC RX 5060B receiver.
1) First point of confusion is that the PSW10 does not have a direct/LFE input while my receiver only has one output for the SW. So, can I buy a Y cable (RCA) and connect the "Subwoofer Out" on the receiver to the Line in (Left and Right) on the PSW10? I think I read this is okay, with the variable low pass filter set at the highest level?
2) Should I connect my front speakers directly to the AVR or through the SW as shown in the PSW10 manual? Whats the difference?
3) Should I set the speaker sizes (F, C, R) to large or small, or some combination thereof? I think I read in one of the threads that the Front and Centre should be set at Large, while Rear speakers at small. Whats the right setting? I am setting this up in a room 12' x16' (16' being the viewing distance). The rear speakers are about 4 feet away from our sitting position, on the rear wall.
4) What is the phase switch on the SW? Should I set it to 0 or 180?
Thanks in advance for your patience if I have repeated any questions already answered in other threads.
Thanks
LC

1) Yes and Yes.
2) If you use the low level input to the sub, then you must connect the fronts directly to the AVR. If you run speaker wires to the sub, then you could run the fronts from the sub, but I see no reason to do it that way.
3) I'm not real sure about what teh 6005 system is, but I suspect that the speakers don't have much bottom end (check the specs), so you might as well set the speakers to small on the AVR. When set to small, the AVR removes the lows frequencies; for speaker w/ limited low frequency extension, you might as well have the AVR trim off the lows that the speakers can't reproduce--why waste the AVR's power sending a signal to the speakers that only ends up as waste heat?
4) There is no definite answer. It depends on the placement of the sub relative to the fronts. Play some material w/ base content and switch between 0 and 180. If one sounds better than the other, use that setting. If you can't tell the difference, then it doesn't matter.
Good luck!
