I was cruzin E-play and for some reason I decided to lace a bid, not really wanting to win, (still not sure why I even bid).
I won this Polk sub without really wanting or needing it...CHEAP !

It arrived this evening when I got back from BB, and so I hook it up, and took the PSW250 (8") out of the office rig and plugged her in..

WTF ?!!

I think the old 8"er is a better sub !
It sounded better than the new one (10")

Maybe it needs to break in...

any thoughts ?

    Break it in.

The 250 is amazing, esp in a small room. A good friend of mine, Jim Rivers from fmtunerinfo.com, uses one in his reference rig that consists of JM Lab and highly modded Heathkit / Rega, etc.

Let's be honest. This sub can be bought for $100 new if you just look around. $100 and everyone is still making a profit. It's about as entry level as you can get.
Lovin that music year after year.

I bought a PSW10 brand new for $100. I was so dissapointed I sold it the same day for $75. It was just for the garage, and it still couldn't cut it. More port noise than actual output.

I was shocked that Polk would put out such a pile.

I'm not, honestly. It actually worked fairly well when I integrated it into my original 2-channel setup of R30's (gotta start somewhere, right?). It's just not very good once you realize there's more out there.

As for playing with new gear, I'll give that to you ya. Nothing more fun than checking out something new

    Didn't mean to offend Refefer.

I have never owned or heard a Polk product that I didn't think was great for the money (The R series comes to mind as a great value), until the PSW10. I've heard HTIB subs that sound better, and had more output.

I got on a sub craze for a while and found many subs that really made me smile...for different reasons, but I still think the 250 is a great little sub for what it is...and in the office rig it works great..

    The 10 ?
well lets just say, I gave it away to my daughters boyfriend for his x-box game play...
I have 5 subs and they all have thier purpose in each rig...I was just curious about Pok`s little 10"er, and now I know first hand...

    That`s what I do...I buy , play with it for a while...if I like it it stay`s , if I don`t it goes..

    Turn the page....;)

I have one doing the exact same thing upstairs in the attic for the kid's video game rig. I think it's OK for what it is. It's doing a decent job for what I'm asking it to do...
