    Harrold, congrats on the new sub. For 90% movies and TV, I definitely think you made the right choice. Looking forward to hearing your impressions.

    BTW, I've also owned the Martin Logan Dynamo and was very impressed by that little thing. Great performance and very musical for a $600 sub. I'd imagine the Abyss is more of the same. Did you get a chance to demo it?

    Anyway, enjoy the new setup. I bet that kind of upgrade makes it sound like a whole new system.

    John - It was great taking your order and catching up on old times with a long-time Polkie. Once things settle down for me, I hope to be spending more time at my old stomping grounds - and still one of the best forums around - Club Polk. :^)

    Ed - Thanks so much for taking the order and the nice conversation. I thought that was the coolest thing when I found out that it was you on the other end of the line. I read the Polk Forum thread about you joining SVS, but didn't expect to get you on the line.

    You almost had me going for a box sub, but I always loved the look of the cylinders since SVS was introduced. Only the Ultra would satisfy my appetite!

    I'll keep an eye out for your "Polk Forum Drive-byes" in the future.

    My PC-Ultra arrived today. Good lord, now this is what I call a sub! I hooked it up and had a movie playing. I decided to move it back a little bit to the wall WHILE the movie was playing. Something big hit in the movie and this huge gush of air slammed me in the chest while I was moving it. Holy hell! :D

    I have off Friday, so it's playtime.

    I've had my Plus/2 for almost a year now and it made the best improvement to my system than any other upgrade. Some upgrades yield a subtle improvement (also known as: my wife can't tell a difference). Let me assure you that my wife noticed a difference when I hooked up the SVS. I think this is the only A/V equipment I have that my wife feels like I got my money's worth. Hope you enjoy your purchase as much as I've enjoyed mine.

    Mrs. Schwingding asked me the other day about my subs. "Have you changed something?" She asked because she said she didn't feel the house shaking nearly as much lately.

    I think there are two or three reasons for this;

    1. I've settled into my subs / the newness factor is cooling down so I'm not demo'ing every bass track I can find, extra loudly.
    2. I seem to have relieved a lot of the "boominess" by paying careful attention to the phase controls and room placement.
    3. I'm after a more realistic sound now. I don't need bass 24x7 but rather only when it is supposed to be there.

    Last night I was watching "Any Bully" on blu-ray (WOW!), anyway, there are very distinct areas of the film where lots of bass is present, mainly when full sized humans are walking - from the ants' persepective. It was during this film that I realized just how good these PB12+/2s are, quiet when supposed to be, but I got quite a "holy ****" out of myself a few times when they're really on queue. It is with movies like this - quiet but with momentary delves into really deep bass, that I realize just how good these things are. With lesser subs, I always needed to turn them up to levels where they were always present in order to get the volume and presence I was after. With these however, they're there, ready to do what is required of them, and not there when not needed. I am still literally shocked that they energize the 20'x25' concrete floor beneath me to the degree that the dogs shake and seek higher ground.

    This week I'm going to plant one +/2 right on top of the other, supposedly this'll be even better. Hard to imagine.
