candyliquor35m and SLOCOOCKN were both kind enough to let me demo some interconnects. A set form Kimber Kable (PBJ's) and a set from Straightwire (Encore 2's)
Both sets of interconnects are defiantly better than your run of the mill phillips, rca, and came in the box wires. They both have a very nice sound to them. Both also present a better sound stage than the cheapies.
If you read both of the separate posts I think you can tell which I prefer. The Kimbers seem to do it all a light bit better. The Straight wire did not open the sound stage as much as the kimbers did, and the kimbers gave me a better sense of depth(front to back). Also with the kimbers my speaker disappear when I close my eyes. The Encores are right there too,The speaker all but disappear, I can just barley tell that it's not live. The Encore 2's did seem to have a littel better bass, less restrained, but that could have been because the Kimber have a better top end, making it seem as though they did not have as much weight in the bottom 2-3 octaves. As far as the treble goes the kimber's are sweet they just seem to do it right were as the encores seem a little muted, and also tinny. The encores did Mid range very well as did the kimbers. The kimbers let the mids flow from the speakers, and the straightwire was right on their back like white on rice.
These are just my opinions on these to wonderful interconnects If you in the market for an up grade from the low budget cheaps give either of these a whirl odds are you will end up with one of them.
Both individual test of these cables were first preformed against a set of phillips analog cables from my player to my pre, with the amp being fed off a set of rca brand cables. For the head to head comparison the I used the rca's first and then the phillips with both cables
I also ran the kimber from my dvd/sacd/cd to the pre, and the straitwire from the pre to the amp with breath taking results. Way better than using the phillips in the loop.
Later all,
dude
p.s thanks guys for letting me borrow your cables it's been a hoot. so I'll be sending yours back in a couple weeks. candy you will be getting a reply to your pm in a couple days after I iron out a few things at hand
Thanks agin guys
