I've go a nice musical HSU with an 8"woofer. My dilemma is that is need to move the cylindrical woofer box on the other side of the room. The Sub has a separate outboard amp and crossover. The question is should I use long interconnections (2) and place the amp close to the sub, or should I place the sub close to the pre-amp and use long speaker wires to connect the speakers from the amp. I need a lesson in capacitance. Thanks

How long are you talking here.Longer interconnects are going to be costly and limit you to trying new stuff.Go with the speaker wire.Inside of 12-15 ft should be no problem.Every cable is differant on what it looses over a given length.HT SYSTEM-

What kind of cable are you useing?Go on there website and they might list it in their specs for your cable. All in all,15 ft should not be difficult.HT SYSTEM-

When faced with the choice of sending a signal over a longer distance, it seems like the higher the level of the signal, the less the chance of it being significantly contaminated by various forms of interference. Running 15' of wire to a speaker from an amp shouldn't pose any problem: as long as the wire is of sufficient gauge to carry the current (and not add resistance.)
