hello guys, I have a question, in order to get dts do you have to set your dvd player setting to 96khz/24bit or does it also work with the 48khz/16bit setting. I am only getting 2 channel when playing back dts tracks, so I dont know if if my receiver (denon avr5600dts) is the problem.

I don't remember the exact setting, but you have to set it for (or make sure its not set to - try it both ways) PCM stream or something like that.

Also my DVD player will autoplay movies and such. If the autoplay is enabled - it often will not play DTS tracks. (Eagles hell freezes over is one example of this - will only play in stereo if auto play is enabled on the player)

Anyway - good luck, I am sure it is just a setting - once you find it, it won't be a big deal.

in the dvd players setup menu set the audio output to bitstream. and sometimes you have to turn on dts to enable it in the player. How old is the Denon are you sure that it will decode DTS

it is set to bitstream and I also enabled dts on the dvd player menu. Im not sure about the receiver it was one of the 1st gen dts receivers, maybe around 1997-98 (they made 2 versions of the 5600) It can process dd tracks but when switched to dts, the front panel lights indicates multichannel but I get stereo only.

Have you made sure that your dvd player is enabled for multichannel & not 2 channel?

I was getting everything in 2 channel till I checked out the menu on the dvd player & discovered I had to change it from 2 channel only to multichannel.

So many machines & so many menus! It sure gets confusing.

some older receivers rely on the DVD player to send a DTS signal to it.. so that may be the problem. not sure.
