I just received the hd xa1, it has a man. date of June 06 will it need upgrading? thanks
My HT set-up Panasonic front proj, 120 in ws screen, ATI amp,Integra 9.8 pre-pro, 2 Polk rti150, cp 1000, 4 fx 1000, Pioneer blu-ray 2 SVS sub pb 12-ultra 2, & Paragon popcorn popper. ps 3 Coaster leather HT recliners.

    Check the firmware. It should be 2.0.
    If...
    Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
    Ron loves a film = don't even rent.

    Thanks, If it is does it need the firmware upgrade?

    2.0 is the latest, if it's got that your good. If not, call Toshiba and they'll send you a disk or you can hookup to the net and download directly into the player via the ethernet port.

    Thanks for your help, one question, how will I know if its got the 2.0?

    press from the remote control 'Setup -> Maintenance -> Update', you'll see a bunch of number. the latest firmware looks like this: 2.0/1.0/2.0S.

    if you don't have that updated firmware version, call Toshiba to send you the disc or you can download the update through the internet.

    Also Amazon HD DVD prices seem to be really good, if you haven't checked it out. You can still get in on the 10% off for a year deal too. And pretty much avoid buying at Best Buy at all costs. :)

    Received mine Wed, but haven't taken it out of the box to hook it up yet. Came with Million Dollar Baby, Last Samuri, and Phantom of the Opera. I'll get the rebate mailed in for the next three as well.

    Will be leaving tomorrow, so I won't get to enjoy it until after the new year.
