EDIT: Not really looking any more. Also, my Sony and B&K amps are both sold.

I made the jump to separates. The Mirage M-3 need more power.

Using a B&K ST1400 right now and would like to up the ante to 200 wpc or better. I'm partial to B&K, Parasound, Aragon, or Rotel, but am open to other brands if the price/quality is right. Can be a stereo amp or a pair of monoblocks.

If interested in a trade+cash, at present, I can offer either my fine Sony TA-F333ESL integrated (100WPC) or the B&K ST1400 (105WPC) or both. I'd value the Sony at about $300 (its minty with orignal manual and remote) and the B&K at about $250.

I have a near mint Adcom GFA-5400 that is 200 @ 4ohms, but only 130 @ 8. I got it from a guy who's knew someone who got out of the business, so he had a stack of GFA-5400's with almost no time on them. I paid $200 for it. So $200 + shipping it is yours. Let me know if your interested.

    Thanks Ben

    Helluva Deal!
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Should have clarified, looking for 200+ watts into 8 ohms. The Mirage are listed at 6 ohms nominal, and they luv them some major power. So, the 5400 is not really what I'm looking for. Now if it were a 5500, I might take you up. Thanks for the offer though.

    Ok,
I'm back in the hunt for something to fit my needs. Thought I had a nice Parasound, but it was damaged in shipping, so no go there. My ST-1400 amp is sold now.

Bi-amp em'. Adcom on bottom, B&K on top.

This would a great cost effective solution. If your Mirage's are the later "si" models they are bi-amp capable.

With what? Got nothing right now. Not sure if that Adcom above is even still on the table, but my B&K is gone for sure.

The M-3 are all bi-amp/bi-wire capable. The early M-1 were not.

Something tells me that's outta my range on price (by about 3x) :(
Its pretty though. Love the blue lit meters.

Actually, I have a Parasound HCA-2200ii on the way that will hopefully fill the amp void I have right now.

I have two Adcom 565's packed in the original shipping boxes that will have more than enough power. $900 + Shipping. Condition per Doro's or my sale thread.

Unfortunately I don't think you're going to find the power you're looking for at the $300 price point. Let me know if the adcom's would work.

Have them, love them, I'm going to vertically bi-amp my 1.2 TLs using the 565s on the lows and a Parasound on the highs.

Why not find a carver TFM-35 somewhere? I believe they do about 300 wpc into 6 ohms and would certainly have the juice you're looking for.

Relatively cheap too, you can get them for around $300-$400 if you look around, and there's always one or two on sale somewhere.

    *EDIT*

Here are a couple on the bay:

Agreed they are reasonable in price and have plenty of power to drive my sda srs 1.2 tls. I have one hooked up now a TFM-35X my ears give up long before it will. Or perhaps an adcom GFA-555 it is 200wpc conservatively rated. There both in the same price range 300- 400 on average. REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I guess you didn't see my post just above your's. I have already procurred a Parasound HCA-2200ii. Actually, I never said anything about a $300 price point. I was looking at amps up to $600 or so. I ended up getting my Parasound for $450 shipped and it is in pretty good shape all around considering the price. Not quite as much power as a pair of 565s, but probably a bit more refined.
