I would get the Carver. Are you thinking of running some kind of mono situation or bi-amp? Remember when you mix amp brands the slew rates are likely different, for HT this never mattered much to me as there is so much going on, and I am primarily watching the movie, for music though I would not mix amp brands.

The carver is sounding better I could mono each one and get 700 watts a side for my 1.2tls Thatll be SWEET!!! great idea i didint think of that till i read your reply. See I have to buy 1 new ampanyways because I need to run an isobarrak 18" sub That would leave my yamaha available to run the sub Thanks:cool: " He who dies with the most equipment wins Right ? "

no bridged amps on 1.2tl. you will fry your amps and speakers. You lose common ground when bridging. From the bottom it looks like a steep incline, From the top another down hill slope of mine. But I know the equilibrium's there! .."Faith No More"

You can use mono blocks with SDA as long as your present cable is a pin/blade configuration and you use the AI-1 cable. I don't have the book right here in front of me but I seem to recall the 1.2tl fit this requirement. In some cases you can ground the negative posts of each mono block amp together and be OK as well, but you need to check with the amp manufacturer for each particular amp. I recall BDT running Carver mono blocks on his SDA which are 2.3tl. There are numerous threads here you can read about it. I ran a pair of NAD 2700's bridged mono with my 1C's for quite a while with excellent results. There were some serial number 1C's that I recall where you could not run mono blocks.
Of course you could also bi-amp the speakers to see how you liked that configuration.
Enjoy.

The 5800 is a powerhouse and it's a very nice detailed amp. However it is NOT common ground so the same issues will apply as mono's if you don't have the proper cable. I believe the neg grounds can be tied together but as always CHECK WITH THE MANUFACTURER.

Either would be nice but my vote goes to the Adcom 5800 a very nice amp that performs well beyond it's price point."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway?
