Advice needed on SVS PB12ISD/2

There is an SVS PB12ISD/2 on Ebay that is just across town from me that I am thinking of purchasing Link.

Does anyone own this particular model?
Is the newer version substantially better, and more to point, is it worth the extra $$?
Does the price seem right? It is higher than Blue Book but I understand it is all about what the market will bear.
It would be used for about 80% HT and 20% music (maybe not that much as I usually turn off the sub for music).
My room is 19' 17" x 21', open on one end and the ceiling on one side is about 15' high. Will this sub suffice?

Thanks to everyone in advance for any advice they can give.

Oh - and thanks to BigYank for posting this in the Flea Market area.

Cheers!
Chris

Did I put this in the wrong place?

Come on - where are all of the SVS gurus?

Maybe I'll just copy this to the Speakers area?

I'm sure there are a few people on the forum that own this sub and if I'm not mistaken, it performs very well. The one thing I'm confused about is why he decided against the upgrade to the NSD driver which is by far a better driver. I'm pretty positive you will be very happy with the purchase, I myself own three SVS subwoofers, dual PB12-Plus/2's and a single PB12-ISD and I couldn't be happier.

I just noticed you are currently using a PSW12 subwoofer, upgrading to the SVS will be a substancial (sp) upgrade with music and movies.

    Hi Grim -

Yeah - the PSW12 was more of a "it was just there" thing when I bought my monitor 60's a while back.

Do you know the main difference in the drivers (old vs. new)? Is it excursion, or frequency response or just durability? I couldn't seem to find anything on the SVS site.

I understand that the SVS will be a marked inprovement, but what do you think about the price? I have heard the 1/3 retail for used arguement made more than once on these boards. This fellow is asking for well over 1/2. Just want to make sure it's not too extravagant a price.

    Thanks for your replies!

Price does seem a little step, for a little more you could buy new with the NSD upgrade. Here is a link on the NSD drivers. Just scroll down the page a bit.

Great link Grimster - thank you.

SVS makes the NSD sound like the second coming. That coupled with what I perceive to be too high a price will make me pass on this (I think!). If I go 700 and upgrade, I think I will actually be OVER the price of the new one (although I would have 2 superfluous ISD drivers). There will always be other subs out there ....

    Thanks again.

I would pull the trigger on it, SVS always gives you an option to upgrade drivers. If not go for a PB12 PLus, Im in love with mine. Come with cash in hand and I bet you can go lower on it.
