Sorry to hear this Bear. I HIGHLY recommend that you sell the M3 as soon as possible after the repairs are made. Problems will eventually show up, and its like being victimized all over again.

Anytime bodywork is done to a car, there is a risk. Issues may crop up a year or two later.

What kind of issues could possibly crop up after cosmetic body work? Maybe if you bring it to Maaco the paint will probably flake off after a year, but any decent body shop you'll never be able to tell the difference.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I used to do autobody for a living. If he has problems after having key scratches fixed, it will be because of poor work.
If it's done right, no one will be able to tell he had work done. Except maybe a pro.

Bear that REALLY sucks but I agree with MSALLA. If you choose the right, and I emphasize right, body shop they should fix that easily. You never want to have to do it but that is old news now.

The Insurance Co. wants me to take it to the GM dealer and have it fixed..

It will have to have body work and a paint job..

They hit both sides and the roof and hood....

real deep...must have used a knife or screwdriver..
    I`m thinking screwdriver..

I don`t want a spot paint job, I`m getting a total paint job...not somehalf assed paint job either

The guy 2 doors down had both cars done up, but they didn`t carve words, just scratches...got two up the street...a mustang and a caddy...they will be caught, and they will regret it....

Hmmmmm....it may be that they have an "arrangement" with the GM dealer. However, by law, you can take it anywhere you want, like a BMW dealer.

Do some research and take it to the best body shop in the county, insurance will just have to suck it up. Get ready for a premium increase.

I'm not even admitting publically what I did to our Audi awhile ago....man o' man.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Bear,

Just remember, that no matter who does the work, do not take the vehicle back from them, until you are completely satisfied with the work done. Also, do not, under any circumstances, give the shop the insurance check, until you are happy and FULLY satisfied with the work. You have a rare car, not your run-of-the-mill Bimmer and it's your right to demand quality work done to it. Make sure that they don't leave any tape-off lines ANYWHERE. A good shop will remove most, if not all, of the trim and shouldn't leave any sign that the car had bodywork. Sorry to hear about that **** and don't worry...the perps will eventually screw up and hopefully for something more serious than vandalism, so they can go to that place where the "bartender" won't likely interfere with the fellow patrons pushing up their stools. Only a pus%y pulls **** like this and deserve whatever they get.

I worked at a body shop for three years and a restoration shop for 1/2 year bear. Like some have pointed out, you get the right shop, no one but you will know it was repaired.

They can't force you to go to a shop not of your choice. By law you can use any shop you want. They will probably not shell out for a whole new paint job though.
