The other side of Charlie Watts

Maybe this is known by many of you, but I only knew Charlie Watts as the drummer of The Rolling Stones.

Yesterday I was at the local library in one of my usual searchs for music, and picked up a two CD set, "Watts at Scott's", by Charlie Watts and The Tentet.

Drums, piano, saxo, bass, trumpet, percussion...well, it's ten of them, so all instruments are there.

I guess you do learn something every day.

If you have a chance to hear it, do it.

    Charlie has had his jazz bands for decades.

    Hmmm....seems like rock drummers always has a thing for jazz. Phil Collins was in a fusion band, Brand X, when he was with Genesis in the 70s.

    Jazz is actually Charlie's preference. More his personality as well.

    If you ever catch some of the earlier kind of weird Jagger antics you can see Watts's dislike of it.
