I'm not sure my new speakers are big enough...

These followed me home this morning. Some of the tweeters are no good, but otherwise they're great.
Think these would be OK for my 10x10' listening room?

Those are pretty cool although a WAF of -2. If you are not familiar with it, check out this McIntosh site and follow along to the speaker sections.

Two seperate pairs as far as I know, but I got them together so they're a set.
Not sure of all the specs. The most important one is the weight--the big ML-2C's on the bottom are 140 pounds each. -
mmmm... Peerless cone tweeters; probably (arguably) the best cone tweeters ever made.
Plenty of info at Roger Russel's McIntosh site on Mac speakers (speakers were his thing, in many respects). I have a couple of those ol' vintage Mac product brochures that might have info on these speaker systems. -
are you gonna run them stacaked? :eek:PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
If I can get them all working, get a decent amp, and survive the noise, yeah--stacked all the way.
MRH, they might be great tweeters but three of my four are toast. Any idea what'll drop in there without too much fuss? -
Well... tell you the truth... I (speaker Philistine that I am) would try the charming little Pioneer 2-1/2" cones:

No idea about efficiency, but I suspect they'd fit :-)
I might be able to round up something from the open stock in the basement for a temporary fix... -
Nice! They are nice vintage speaks! Congrats! Is that rust on those dome tweeters??Carl
-
Nope, no rust--red paper dome midranges.
Think that Pioneer would perform? It's certainly pretty cheap. -
Actually I think the domes are phenolic (like the old Fisher phenolic domes).
Is/are this/these it/them? :-) -
Right you are. Those are they, all right. I'm glad I didn't get the Mediterranean cabinets.

I think I now know what it's like to pass from "audiophile" to "freakin' bonkers." Just had a friend over help me stuff them into my little combination listening and bedroom. (up 1.5 flights of narrow stairs--aarrhh) Until I can get all the spare equipment cleaned out I might be sleeping on the speakers.
-
umm... John... so... if you, y'know... clean out that spare equipment, and some of it is lookin' for a home... ?
;-) -
All right, getting closer. Making some progress on the drivers, and today my MQ-102 equalizer arrived. Should be fun to hear what a flat 20hz sounds like.
