MW 6502 Monitor 5 woofers, 2 wanted

Season Greetings, Hey I got my first set of Polk speakers. Now I know why they were selling at such a low price. Both woofers are burned out. My audio hobby has been banished to the basement. So I bought a pr of Monitor 5s for the smaller space I have now. I was hoping they would sound good at lower volumes. I'm not looking for high sound pressure levels but rather nice sound at a medium sound levels. These have MW 6502 woofers and SL2000 tweets. Any comments, suggestions, ideas is appreciated. I use tube gear and wonder if they will match up well??? I look forward to your comments......

    I have a pair of those now and they sound wonderful on tubes. Call customer service to work out getting replacement drivers.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Like the rest of you Polkers I have several set of speakers to choose from. So I'm in no hurry to replace the woofers. But I'm still curious to see what they sound like in my room and how they match up with tube gear....

    There are 2 auctions on Ebay right now, each with 2 drivers per auction. Unfortunately they don't state the exact model on the magnet but they are stamped M5 and also have M4, M5jr, M7 on the magnet listing.

    I could have the wrong drivers but they seem to be the right ones, at least for the dates on them.

    They are listed under "other speakers".

    You guys are great. Maybe I'll get lucky..... I think that stick is on all the woofers but they are suppost to check off which speaker model it was made to go in..... At the very top of that sticker is the woofer model number like mine MW 6502.... I'm learning as this goes on......

    Experiment with distances between your Monitor 5's and the wall. Ordering old drivers is a crap shoot. Sometimes you get lucky, other times you wind up with frozen drivers or magnets separated from the baskets. It's up to you but Polk Audio sells new mw6502 replacements with a similar look and price not worth the hassle. If you find the old tweeters hurt your ears, replacement tweeters are also available.
