Well, after having my one of my speakers and my amp repaired for what I can only assume was a power spike (thanks a lot useless Monster power center), I have now sent my poor NAD T763 receiver in for repairs down to Precision Audio and Video in Seattle. I talked to them today and they said they are waiting on prices for a frontboard (no idea what that is.....anyone?). Sounds pricey to me but I'm so sick of having problems I just want a normal working system again. Before I plug anything back in again, the next item will be a real power control center like Panamax or some other company. Anything but Monster. The Power Center was the last Monster item remaining in my system and now it is going to get the big sleep.

The greatest enemy of truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest - but the myth - persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

Oh this is turning into a nightmare!! I just got off the phone with the repair shop and they said that it looks as if someone spilled coke inside the unit and that some of the wiring is not even properly soldered to the unit. He suspsects that I bought the unit in this condition!. Cost of repairs = $800!!!!!

He suggested I call NAD. I dont know what else to do. This is horrible!

Get the service techs report in writing and start working with the seller. Follow up with NAD directly if you get nothing there.

The coke damage may be tough to prove you didn't cause it, but the faulty soldering should be a no-brainer!

New in box or demo unit? - either way, hope it turns out well for you.

Edit - I have an old Yamaha C-85 2 channel pre-amp that I can send you while you are waiting. It's not the best, but at least you can get tunes out of your LSi25's while you are waiting. Just send it back when you are done with it. (and no setting soda's on top of it... :) )

Sorry to hear of your troubles ... You wouldn't expect this sort of thing coming from an authorized dealer.

I'm hardly a Monster Power Center fan ... but this would seem to rule out its involvement ...

how long have you had the unit? I think something is very fishy here.. call up the store where you bought it.. and YELL at them. it may not help.. but you'll feel better afterwards.

sorry man. that sucks. best of luck.

i bought the unit new from an authorized dealer. I talked to the dealer a few minutes ago and he said, first off, that the cost for repairs I was given was outrageous. He also said that my unit may still be under warranty and that he has sales records going back 20 years and would try and find my sale since I lost the receipt while moving a year and a half ago. We'll see how this all pans out. Not too happy at the moment.

Sounds like your dealer is trying to do the right thing. And yes the repair bill is a little high. You can buy a refurbushed T763 from an authoried dealer (Spearit Sound) for $949 with a warranty.

Good news. After talking with NAD directly, they have agreed to give me a new frontboard for free! They are sending it directly to the repair center and this will dramatically reduce the cost to me. I must say I'm impressed with the speed and courtesy of NAD customer service. I can't wait to have music and movies again!

It was in rough (sort of) condition when I puchased it. Only 4 of the 6 channels were working and it had seen better days. I paid $515 shipped from Canada to my door. (my best deal in audio so far)

It had some humm issues that I have gotten sorted out and I got the 2 additional channels fixed for about $350.

All in all I am in it for less than $900 and it is my favorite piece of audio equipment I have gotten yet. I don't forsee selling it anytime in the near future. (it should run any speaker I can think of with no problem - can run a 2 ohm load all day if I want it to)

And yes - it runs the LSi's (and my SVS sub) just great.

This is just another reason I own a lot of gear from NAD and other companies that are high on Customer Service like Polk and AudioQuest. They make good gear AND stand behind it!
