There is anotherr one of those regional words: JAGOFF!

My wife is from Boston, and the first time I said something like "You jagoff!" during a road rage encounter. She said "WTF is a jagoff?"

Well thanks for that word, because we love it here and put it to good use often. :D

    LOL ...

That reminds of long ago being in a weekly college lecture hall where the prof insisted on passing around a sign in sheet ...

Someone in the hall thought it would be cute to add a non existant students name to the list i.e. Jack Mahogoff ...

After a couple of weeks of no notice what so ever ... whoever it was started writing the name larger and larger until one day after reviewing the list when it got back to his desk ... the prof looks up and asks ... and whom may I ask is Jack Mahogoff ? ... the hall was rolling on the floor ...

Yinz guyz should stop jaggin around before someone pokes an eye auht!

Carl - I grew up in Upper St. Clair (just won states in football I heard) and bought my first pair of Polks in Dormont (Audio Junction donchaknow). Graduated Pitt in '91.

I never knew that about Sam Adams - I bet that led to some spirited discussion in the wee hours.

I grew up on the North Side, Brighton Heights actually. I graduated from Pitt in 1976, the year of the National title. And yes! USC won the Quad A state title last Saturday! A woman engineer that I work with at Westinghouse has a son who was a wide receiver on the team.

Oh Tommy - you ask too much!:p I am certainly all for getting together, but I'd really rather avoid the Iron City!

I've been to Brookline a few times! I used to have a great friend that lived about a block away from the blvd. Audio Junction used to be about a block south of Tom's Diner in the strip center that had the Chinese restaraunt (Hong Kong I think it was) and the bowling alley.

Carl - I lived in the North Side for a little while - Observatory Hill. I am sure that it was once a wonderful neighborhood with large houses lining the streets, but where I lived was getting pretty run down. It really is a shame.
It must have been great going to Pitt at that time! Times have been a little rough for them lately - hopefully they'll turn it around (although I've been saying that for a while now).

Speaking of beautiful newscasters, do you remember Margie Shortridge? Remember Jimmy and Steve in the Morning (sometimes they're funny, sometimes they're boring)?

As far as C-bus goes, I got a call from a head hunter and The Limited made an offer I couldn't refuse. One thing lead to another and I am now an official transplant, although I don't think I will EVER been an official Buckeye fan. I now work in the technology of DSW (the shoe place).

Great to touch base with some guys from back home! :D

Yinz know I thing that Audio Store is still up there. I don't know if it has the same name, but it's right next to "Pants n'at". "I get my disability check, and pow its gone!"

Yeah Chris we should get together next time your in the homeland. I live in Monroeville, which is like a foreign area for a North Sider. Ah Observatory Hill, beautiful Victorian homes of grandeur. I wouldn't walk those streets today without packing my Glock in the shoulder strap, and my S&W 32 strapped to my ankle under the boot jeans.

If you're in the area for the holidays to see family, some on over and hear the SDA-SRS 2.3's. I see you have the 2.3tl's and the SRS2's. nice. I've also got some SDA-2's, CRS's and a nice minty pair of original Monitor 7's with Peerless tweets that were going to hookup to my prepamp and Tom's power amp this Saturday. Seriously, let me know if your coming back to the "Burgh with a few hours to kill. We have a blast listening to tunage and bustin' on Pitt. PM me if you want home boy.

Tommy, sit down and listen to me. The Pens value in Pittsburgh has deminsihed dramatically today. Their value in the open NHL market has risen sharply. Their lease at the Igloo expires this Summer. They will be coy with the Pittsburgh policial powers, but there days in Pittsburgh are numbered. Their value outside the city is probably two or three times what it is to stay in Pittsburgh. Couple that with Pittsburgh political hacks that have double crossed Mario every year for seven years. Say goodbye to the Penguins, the new casino owner want to give them a paltry $7M a year for for 30 years towards a new ice complex. This wont cover 20% of the interest on a $200M investment in Municipal bonds.

The Pens will be in the midwest or Canada next year. I don't blame Mario, he tried his best but was screwed by the Pittsburgh and State Democratic machine.

    Say goodbye!:(

It's a shame because the Pens are about a year or two away from becoming the NHL's powerhouse. They have some young talent not seen in this leagues since the Gretsky, Coffey, and other players days in Edmunton 20 years ago. Sidney Crosby, Evgani Malkin and Mark Andre Fluery all of whom are about 19 -21 years old are already all star caliber players. In two or three years they will look like men playing with boys.

Thanks Carl - I'll do that the next time I'm in town!

I just did the Christmas thing with my mom last week so it'll probably be a while before I am back out there.

    Pants n'at!!! Too damn funny!

Tommy - I didn't even know that happened. That breaks my heart - some of my fondest memories are of watching cup games in 91 and 93 at the Saloon in Mt. Leabanon. I got to watch the game last Friday at my mom's - I can't believe how much I miss watching them play. Saturday's game (against Les Habs) was painful though. I hope you're right an Lemieux can pull another rabbit out of the proverbial hat and keep them in Pittsburgh.

Anytime yinz guyz is passing through CMH, ping me and we can get together.

Coffey was one of the best skaters I have ever seen. That guy was wicked fast and had such great hands. As far as being a great defensman .... I won't argue that one either way.

Great point about the value outside of Pittsburgh Carl. I think you hit the nail right on the head.

The city will not wake up to the corruption and graft until all of the young people are gone and the taxes are through the roof - but the city will still be broke. It never ends with that machine....

Just think of those '91 and '92 Pens team. Mario Lemiux, Paul Coffey, Jarmir Jagr, Marty McSorley (goon, and a good one), the Samulsons, Olf and Kjell, Kevin Stevens, Ron Francis, Larry Murphy, Joey Mullen, Bob Errey, Troy Loney, Rick Tockett, Sean McEachern, Mart Straka, Peter Taglinetti, Tom Borasso, Ken Wright, Jay Caufield.

This was a team that has had few teams since match their talent. If this Penquins team played under the "new rules" with regard to clutching and grabbing. This team may have never lost. The Penquins finsihed the 1992-1993 season with 19 consective wins. That's 25% of the Season! Unreal!

Have you seen 19 year old Sidney Crosby play? Unbelieveable vision and hand control on that stick. He can stick a high velocity pin point pass with authority with just a flick of his wrists.

I got to see Crosby play last Friday when the Pens beat up on the Isles. That goal he assisted when Zhitnik was covering him was amazing. He passed to himself not once, but TWICE and the defender just couldn't keep up. That kid is certain to become something special.

ahh, the good ole days. I was only 6 the last time they won the cup and barely remember it. I guess I'll never truly know the feeling and celebration of us winning the stanley cup:( :(:( .

I was happy the steelers won the super bowl and all, and had a great time. But I always told people I'd much rather see the penguins win the cup...

Well, unless they pull a miracle this year on and off the ice... it will never happen....:(

I really don't understand how the penguins are one of the most watched teams in the NHL but will be forced to moved. While teams like florida, New Jersey(exception of playoffs, that place is always dead), Phoenix, etc. get to keep it. Pittsburgh went over their heads with building new football and baseball(I wish the pirates would just leave) stadiums. The funny thing is, an arena is probably used more then both of the stadiums combined, yet they can't build one. DAMN PITTSBURGH POLITICIANS!

It's the Harrisburg politicians! Remember we have fast Eddie Rendell looking out for our interests. Look for lawsuits from DelMonte Foods, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Carnegie Science Center. Their lawyers will sue the State Gaming Commision for years. The developer of the casino will eventually pull out because of the legal fees. This will happen years after the Pens have moved to Kansas City.
