Folks,

I'm looking to upgrade speaker wire in the $50 dollar range. I know some are laughing at this but I figure it's better than what I got. I'm looking at the Monster xpms100, Belden 5000ue, and BJC 5000ue. If there is anything else out there I'm open to suggestion. Speakers: RTi8,R15, and Infinity sub and center(eventually fxi3 and Velodyne DPS-12).

Thanx!!

Oh, also CSi3.

I've been very happy with Cobalt Cables: http://www.cobaltcable.com/ and you can find various types discounted at http://accessories4less.com/

You can check the speaker cables face off at: http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/audioprinciples/interconnects/speakercablefaceoff01.php

The kimber's would be great for fronts but how about the rest? I was figuring it would take about 100' of cable. The rears will probably be about 30' to 35' each.

HD Sound King wire is a great value at its price point. Plenty of power handling for the $$$.

I buy monster cable 12-10 gauge and put nice ends on after I get it home. Its not all that expensive. Every so often I take it out and use it for sub cable when I build boxes for the boys car subs. Then I go get new. Copper oxidizes very simple fact. The type I use is not Oxygen free so it does oxidize after a couple years. Thats why I use it for sub cable later on. I cut the last 6 inches to a foot off. Then I go get new. Kimber is a good brand but I havent been that impressed in comparison.

I decided to go with the Belden 5000 wire. It seemed like a great price to quality ratio. Will let you all know once I've got it hooked up!

"...experts are in agreement that most cables that claim to improve the sound of audio equipment don't. Even cables costing thousands of dollars per foot are often little more than sonic snake oil, experts say."
    http://www.nytimes.com/library/tech/...es/23down.html

"you may choose to pay outlandish prices to get something that looks amazing, and demonstrates to everyone how much money you have, but it will not make a magical difference to the sound, there will be few (if any) real differences in the electrical characteristics, and it will sound much the same as "lesser" cables, selling at perhaps 100th of the price."
    http://sound.westhost.com/cables.htm

"...all well designed interconnects sound identical."
    http://sound.westhost.com/cablewhitepaper.htm

I do believe everyone is entitled to verification that paying the high price for expensive speaker cables will make a listening difference.

If you AB say 5 cables including a high priced cable a number of times, and can identify the high priced cable correctly 75% of the time then I think you have an argument.

I would be willing to wager no one can do this.
