Newbie question...

I've got kids who like to jump around and when they jump around near my system, my cdp sometimes skips. Rather than offing my children, thus preventing them from jumping, I'm thinking that there MUST be a pad or something to fit underneathe my player that could lessen the jarring that is transfered through the floor and through the furniture upon which it rests.

Can a newbie get some help?

There are isolation pods on the market, But anything short of completely decoupling it from the floor just isn't going to do it. The kids jumping around is giving the floor some serious deflection, and by the time it is transfered and mutliplied by your rack, your CDP is jolting quite a bit.

Add that to the fact it isn't any good on ANY of your equipment...

You don't need to off the little tykes, but you do need to stop them from jumping around your gear. Sooner or later one of them is going to land in it...

    Just my opinion...

Space can always be a problem for some. Fortunately I have a separate room. The audio room is out of bounds for playing. I know it, my wife knows it and our 7 year knows it and has since he was able to understand.

Arg! Not the answers I was hoping for, but they'll have to do. I backed away from audio about 20 years ago when we started having kids because it's hard to be into "it" when you've got kids about. To really listen as I like to meant that I had to ignore the kids, something I wasn't willing to do. But now that my kids are older, have interests of their own that don't always include me and appreciate that dad actually has a hobby of his own (!), I'm sure they'll understand my putting a limit on activities around my equipment.

Thanks for the advice. You folks are always helpful - and fun too!

I have a much louder bark than a bite but the If my old man said that I would totaly understand him Totaly ! For the most part The kids appreciat the system as much as I. My wife says that Ive spoiled my daughter because she will tell you when it sounds good now or not. 2 of my boys dont have a clue but my last boy is like my daughter he has got the ears as well and picks up on sound quality.

use the isolation pads or vibracones, they will only be little for a while. You might use a lesser player when sharing with them and then your reference player for smoking jacket time.
