I live in Ft Lauderdale, and I want to see if anyone was around here. It would be nice to find some people with similar interests in the same area. Can we search for members by area?
Thanks Ben

Hi Ben,
I'm in South Florida, but not on the East coast. I'm in Sarasota on the West coast. A few of us locals have been trying to start a home theater club, with only minimal success in finding people.

I have brothers on the west coast. i might be able to swing by sometime. The only thing is all my equipment is big so it would be near imposable to bring speakers. Other stuff yes. What I was looking for in a club is similar interests. See what results others have had with different setups. What works together well. Hear different music etc. Thanks for the post. Maybe we could all get together some time.

Ben,
I used to live in Florida several years ago. I moved up and down both coasts.
I had a great time with all my adventures. I was reading your post with some amusement. I grew up in Missouri and moved to FL. Then moved back to MO.
I find it amusing because here in MO if you want to get anywhere you have to drive 30 miles and in FL it was so much different. You did not need to drive such distances. Hope you find some local POLKIES. From the bottom it looks like a steep incline, From the top another down hill slope of mine. But I know the equilibrium's there! .."Faith No More"

Its funny people down here wine if they have to go 10 miles, its so far. I too used to live in the country. If I wanted to go to a decent audio store, home depot, Lowe's, or mall I had to drive anywhere from 30 to 45 miles. I can't move where its cold. I broke too many bones, herniated to many discs in my neck and back to function in weather less than 50 degrees. I too would love to get out of the city. I want to be able to pee off my front porch without 10 old ladies staring at me. For anyone who hasn't been in south Fla its hard to picture how it is. When I first came down to meet my Xwife I was going to Ft Lauderdale. I knew it was past W Palm Beach so I was looking for a break between the cities. No break! I drove right through WPB, FT Laud, and into Miami. When I saw the Dolphin's Stadium I knew I had gone too far>Its 120 miles of one big city From WPB to keys!
I hope things are well for you back home.

Hi Ben,
I realize my posting probably was't too clear. I'm the only "club" member with Polk speakers. The group is mostly for discussing how to go about building dedicated home theaters, not to discuss Polk speakers. Send me a message if you're ever in the neighborhood.

Thats cool too I would mind listening to something besides polks too. Your mind is like a parachute if its not open...

Hi Ben, I live in Delray and would like to become a POLKIE. I am 50 so know about vintage speakers, never had any Polks though. I want a pair now, should I pick up a pair of Monitors? any advice as to what models you prefer. Roxanne.
-
Hi Roxanne, its hard to recommend which speakers you should get there are way to many variables involved. Like what kind of amp you have, what kind of music you listen to, and where you live. I have a bunch of different speakers here at my house that you can audition so you can decide what you are looking for. I hope your holidays are going well. I don't have any family here so my schedule is very open till new years.
