Hdmi 1.3

Seems to me with HDMI 1.3 coming out all existing equipment is already obsolete! I am waiting awhile before I upgrade and can have a system that is 1.3 from beginning to end. This includes buying a new TV for my home threatre! Seems to me you need 1.3 in your DVD player, Receiver, and TV to ge the full benefit og HD audio and 1080p.

    Personally I could care less if a preamp or receiver handles video at all ... It's just one more component to put the signal through with no added benefit ...

    You really dont need hdmi 1.3 to get the full benifit of HD-audio and video. Do some more research and you will see that hdmi 1.1 is good enough for what you listed. The audio will have to be decoded in the player (and not the receiver) and the 1080p will work with hdmi 1.1 or greater. hdmi 1.3 does support something called "deep color" (up to 48 bit color), but I have not heard of any TV that will take advantage of this anytime soon, and really dont know how much of am inprovement it would be.

    I am on the fence as to if i should buy a new pre amp now, or wait for hdmi 1.3. For me, i guess it depends if any future blu-ray players can decode dts-hd master (none can right now) or if I will have to get a pre amp that can do this (also no pre amps can now)
