Well, we have a competition tomorrow so ive been hooking up batteries and running wires and building a spl box all this week(had school last week so couldnt do it then). Well, my idiot self hooked up a wire wrong. Simple wiring, series my 2 subs up to 4 ohms, parallel them back down to 2 ohms...couldnt manage to do it...lol. Ive hooked up hundreds of systems in the 1.5 years ive been working at a shop and ive NEVER done this before. Of course, it has to be one of my subs and not a sub that a customer bought from us that I could just swap out at the shop.

I only blew one of the coils though...lol. So i took the good sub out and put a plate over the cutout hole. I'm running my T40001 at 2 ohms on the remaining coil. 3000w RMS on a 800w coil. I'm going to the show tomorrow and blowing it...hahahaha. I'll tell you guys what I hit in the port tomorrow with half a sub:p

Good thing is its still under warranty.

    So youre doing Port Wars?

I always liked watching those. Seeing everybody hit numbers in the high 60's is pretty cool!

It didnt blow...3500w burps on a 800w coil and nothing...I hit a 158.8 in port wars, but I didnt compete. I just used my managers mic to see what it was going to do, but it wouldnt have been enough for even 4th place, although my score in port wars last year wouldve beat everyone again...lol.

But it held up. Anyway, now I have to wait to hear back from adire for a RA number then its back off to them to get fixed.

Damn, 3500w on a 800w coil doesn't blow. I'm confused I blew a mid driver 6.5" woofer on my RT150i speaker which can handle 500w, blew it with a 400w amp? Halo A23 amp bridged 400w.

well, i wasnt playing music, it was 'burped'. Basically it plays a frequency for about 3 seconds and thats it. But still, it was playing 4x the amount of power it can handle. I, for one, am very impressed.

Yeah, its not necessarily the power that blows voice coils, its the heat. As long as the coil can cool back down it would be ok.

However, usually 4 times the power of a rated speaker would rip the suspension to shreds long before it would build up enough heat to melt the voice coil.

    Good for Adire. Thats impressive.

    Why didnt you compete?

    Puss.

I dropped $130 ($250 for the whole weekend) to go to MECA finals and wasnt sure if Id get a trophy.

Im skeered to death about next years finals. Ill be in Mod + and there is supposed to be a bunch of big dawgs coming in from ISACA and USACi. Most of them will be in Custom and Custom + but there will be a good bit in my class too. Buwalda is bringing his USACi team in this year.

well you werent sure if you were going to get anything, i KNEW i wasnt going to get anything. Besides, how much of the $130 was for entry fees and how much was for food/lodging/etc? Im all about going to shows and getting ideas and listening to different cars, thats what i did today and it didnt cost me a thing

    $35?

The USACi shows out here are $20 or at least they used to be. I havent been to a USACi show since last March when that former USACi judge with his bone stock Lincolnd Mark VIII beat EVERYBODY!
