Hello everyone, thank's for having me. A freind of mine gave me two old polk speakers, but the two bottom speakers are missing "the woofers". He said they were monitor 10s, but I dont think they are. The general#are RC 11 3257 and LC 11 3156 both also have the #s LA 4167864 another thing is the two 6 1/2 mid,s in each cabinet have the numbers MW 6600X One more clue is, with the grill's on, you can still see a 4 to 6 inch strip of the cabinets at the bottom (the grill does not cover the whole face of the speaker) The ID diameter where the missing speakers were, is 11 inches. Is there a replacement for these? what are the specs for these woofers? should Itry to find some OEM's? Any help would be grately appriciated.

Do you have any pictures?
From your description they may be the monitor 10 1st generation.
Is the tweeter black with a hole in the middle?SRT For Life; SDA Forever!

No Sir, no pic,s and no, no hole in the tweeter. from searching I think they may be monitor 11's

The whole where the speakers are missing are 11inchs across I.D. so that would take a 12 woofer right?
-
Are the tweeters in the front speaker baffle or on the top of the cabinet?
-
On the front face of the speaker at the top.

The old lady sas she can get a digital camara, so I will try to post pic's when I have time. But I seen a set of monitor 11s on line and thay look alot like them. Is there a substitute woofer I can use?

They don't use woofers. The big hole is for a passive radator. Basically a speaker cone with no speaker.

Just pulled tweeters wrote on them are (M 11) and # 75140983 the tweeter has a big magnet on it, if that helps.

Edit - if they have the riser frame on the bottoms and a front bezel (below the grill) they may very well be Monitor 11s (although the driver numbers don't make sense.) Do they look like this?

BlueMDPicker wrote:Probably Monitor 10B (84-85 model). The "powered speakers" are the drivers. The passive bass radiator (the ones that are missing) is tuned with the sealed cabinet to handle low frequency. The PRs are most likely SW100.

It's a wild goose chase without pics. Someone could have tossed the passive radiators and attempted to install powered bass drivers.
