Speaker Covers?

Any ideas about how to handle speakers near the window? When the shades are open, the morning sun beams down directly onto my speakers. I don't want them to be faded by the sun, so I'm looking for solutions. I was thinking of fashoining some sort of cover (like a pillow case) that covers the top two-thirds of the speaker. It would have to lint-free and WAF quality (hey, if it was up to me, I'd never open the shades!). Of course I don't sew, so I'd have to get them custom made.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

You can have an UV inhibitor film applied to the glass. It works very well.

^^^What Jesse said. You won't hardly be able to tell, and it'll blockout 99.9% of harmful UV...

    FYI --

I found this info on www.askthebuilder.com...

The window films will slow down but not stop the fading process. Approximately 40 percent of fade problems can be attributed to UV radiation. The remainder is actually caused by visible light, heat, and components in the air. Your fabrics and carpets will continue to fade, but the window films do a swell job of retarding this process.

Here's some more stuff I pulled from a professional installer --

FYI = Fading is caused by 4 things, 40% is UV, 25% is light, 25% is heat, 10% is from things hard to control, such as pollution levels, natural or synthetic materials etc. So, if you want to control fading, make sure you have addressed more than just UVs.

If you do choose to use window film, the material you can purchase through diy outlets is not the same quality that professional film co's have access to. DIY material is not nearly as well made or as good of a performer. You will be stuck with dark reflective films that cut little heat and not even the full 99% of UV. These films aren't really warranteed and won't cover you if you have problems with you glass. Go to a pro if you want it to look good, have a good selection to choose from, a warranty and a product that performs well.

    Damn. Some solutions ain't simple.

Shucks, with my DIY skills, the film would look like bath water 'cause it would have so many bubbles in it. Besides, I have the kind of windows with horizontal and vertical inserts (that look like tic-tac-toe), so if the film is to be applied from the inside, I'd have to cut 6 small sheets for each window, which would be a pain in the **** to do.

Nowhere to move them to. Besides, they weigh approx. 140 lbs. each.
