I am starting a new dedicated theater room in my house and have been considering the Yamaha RX-V1700 receiver, a Pioneer Elite, or the Marantz Sr7001.......I was a bit torn over the Yamaha and Marantz because I have had good luck with my last, but now outdated Yamaha, but I was offered a price of $780 for the Marantz SR7001 by a person I have befriended in the HT business and I think that may be too good to pass up! Is this too much of a good thing not to put my Yamaha thoughts to rest??? I would love to hear your thoughts and comments on the Marantz if anyone has this model, or the Yamaha.Thanks.

The Marantz SR7001 is pretty solid... Tho not packed full of feature as similarly priced Denon/Yamaha, the quality comes thru on the audio and performance side, (I believe). That's a great price, I just put one in a client's home for a media room/theater setup and our guys said they liked the audessy setup and it was pretty accurated vs. the spl meter reads and assorted measurements.

I just bought a marantz sr 8001. I highly recommend it or it's smaller sibling the sr 7001.
I initially bought an outlaw 990 pre/pro, then exchanged it for a pioneer elite vsx-84 txsi, and then settled for the marantz.
The marantz has better build quality and a warmer sound than the outlaw and the pioneer elite.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!
