new pre-pro & spk level

My new pre-pro, Adcom gtp-870 has a different way than Im use to in setting the spk level. I just set the volume to zero & run the test tone & match the levels to 75 db. The Adcom says to set the volume at listening level & adjust it with a meter or by ear. Should I just set the spk levels to zero or what? thanks
