I have an Onkyo TX-SR703 AVR, (2) Monitor 70's Front, (2) Monitor 40's Rear, (1) CS2 Center, and (1) PSW12. I curently have the front, rear, and center speakers run from the AVR with 10ga. Monster Cable, and the PSW hooked up solo with a Moster 1000 Subwoofer Cable. Is this the best way? Or the wrong way? How many right ways are there? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have not been in the high end surround sound world before and could use some advice. Thanks...................EFW:confused:

    EFW,

Connect your SW output (pre-amp out) on the receiver to the LFE IN (Unfiltered) port on the sub.

I think the Line In (L & R) are for receivers without subwoofer pre-amp out.

    Welcome aboard!

I'd like to add the following info for you.

The Polk Audio Hometheater Handbook. is a great place to start.

Get yourself a Radio Shack Sound Pressure Level (SPL) Meter and calibrate your system the right way.

I agree with Frank. However, do not use their method of connection for the subwoofer. They make it unnecessarily complicated! Just Use the LFE in.

I agree with both Frank and Cathy....also look at your crossover selection in your AVR.Start out somewhere in the 70-80 hz range and you should do well. You might have to play with placement of your sub to keep it from not sounding boomy.Nice set up..enjoy!
