Uhhhhhhh YEAH! Hello. big Smiths and Morrissey fan here. I have seen Morrissey live. Not the "softer" stuff he's doing now.. but this was a few years after the Smiths broke up. His concert ranks in my top three of all time best concerts i've seen.

Fave Smiths CD's. The Smiths, Meat Is Murder, Best of the Smiths Vol 1.

some rockin songs I really like still today.

    How soon is Now?
    Hand In Glove
    What Difference Does it Make?
Some Girls are Bigger than others
    Girlfriend in a coma
    This Charming Man
Please Let me get what i want
    Pretty girls make graves

that's it.. now i'm going to have to go put in a Smiths CD in the CDP today and give it a listen again. ha ha ha. ;)
    PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert

    HUGE Morrissey fan!

Yes, I got to see him live on the last tour... first time for a lifelong, longtime fan.
Favorite Morrissey album is Vauxhall and I...
Though Viva Hate has been in my CD player a lot of late.

Best Smiths song is Cemetary Gates... or is it Handsome Devil?

Best Morrissey song is Now My Heart is Full.. sheesh, maybe Bengali in Platforms
both are followed in close second by many, many others.

I can honestly say I probably own just about every single Smiths/Morrissey album, single, import, etc.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

This is also on my short list of top concerts. During the summer of 1991 in a amphitheater the summer air was warm and the sun was setting as he took the stage. Morrissey delivered the goods for nearly two hours. I remember red roses being tossed onto the stage throughout the show. I thoroughly enjoyed this concert with the pleasure of chummy co-workers sitting less than 30 feet from center stage. Back then, I was hyper-critical of how a group sounded on stage versus their albums. A great after party at a friend's house lasted until the next morning.

Tears For Fears delivered a stellar performance around that time but Pink Floyd and The Who are tied at #1.

I remember every single one of this concerts used to end with him being mobbed on stage. He makes it very clear at every venue he is at that anyone and everyone is allowed to be on the stage if they so wish. How many bands can say that?

They usually just freak out and start screaming for security if anyone tries to make contact. Not Morrissey. We're talking 40 to 50 people all over the place while the band plays on. Controlled bedlam and a once in a lifetime opportunity for quite a few fans. Must be his affinity for soccer riots -- God knows he references 'em enough in his music.

We'll Let You Know.... "Then, honest, i swear, it's the turnstiles That make us hostile"

Loved the Smiths in the 80's - I have most of the 12" releases. Didn't really follow Morrissey into the 90's and beyond though... Still love to pull out the Smiths' stuff now and then...

Speaking of Tears for Fears... they put on an amazing show during the Seeds of Love tour. One of my favorites. Other top shows: Smashing Pumpkins (Gish) and Pearl Jam (10) opening for RHCP (which unfortunately they lost the sound system and sounded muddy with no bass end...). Sponge, Ned's Atomic Dust Bin, and Letters to Cleo in the mid-90's... all three bands were in top form at a very small venue. Skinny Puppy (Too Dark Park) just for the sheer performance art factor and not stopping early when only of a crowd of less than 20 showed up... visual overload - only show I've ever felt sick afterwards... musically stunning. I saw Depeche Mode 4 times in the 80's - best one was a 'warm up' show for a tour where they played ton's of non-hits.

Great topic - I love The Smiths and Morrissey. Too bad he an old Mr. Marr couldn't get along. It would be so hard to pick a favorite album or song, but a few candidates are:

    Please, Please, Please....
    That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
    Girlfriend in a Coma
How Soon is Now (of course)
    Last Night I dreamt...
    William, It Was Really Nothing
    Reel Around the Fountain
    Suedehead
    Every Day is Like Sunday.

All of the Smiths albums were keepers, but I guess my faves were Strangeways, The Queen is Dean and Louder Than a Bomb.

Am I the last person on the planet to find out that Johnny Marr joined Modest Mouse?

    Un-freakin-believable!

What's probably worse is I really can't tell you who Modest Mouse is... I've heard the name, but I don't know if I've heard a song.

Oh, you've heard 'em. They've been around for awhile, but they just broke big two years ago with the songs Float On and Ocean Breathes Salty.

Discovered the Smith's with the club hit "How soon is Now". Taped that song and didn't even bother to listen to the rest of the record. Now I listen to everything but How soon is now. Funny how that happens.

Probably my least favorite song. Not due to its popularity or anything... I just think the hook is not very catchy. And it may be a bit too long. Still better than that god-awful Bush cover.

It's a great dance song from back in the 80's. Add alcohol and (legal back then) X, mix vigoriously. Stop when the sun comes up...But you're right, it's not representative of anything else they did.
