Wow. So that's what a pool looks like before it's a pool, huh? When's the projected date of completion?

Probably around late March, early April. It works out well as the plaster needs to cure for about 30 days before adding the salt.

Dual paper element filter. The SWCG cell is just behind the pump, you can barely see the top of the cartridge.

Coming along well Steve! I don't know about you, but I was impressed with the rebar job the kid did for my pool. Completed the entire thing in about 8 hours by himself and everything looked perfect.

    Steve,

Look at your pool now... As things get done the pool will look smaller and smaller... Until there's water in it then the size will increase a little. I watched 2 pools being built and found it funny just thinking about that fact.

I was thinking how small it looked when they first spray painted the layout---Bev panicked in fact. Now it's looking a little bigger.

Wait until shell goes in... Then it looks small. When the deck goes on it will look larger... Then when the diamond bright goes in it will look small again. It's all a little funny when all said and done.

    Steve,

Now is the time to think about any future upgrades you have in mind. Like solar heat / heat pump how would this be added in the future? The pool direction does it face north, wheres the electric feed to the pump equipment is the south? If pump equipment is no the south side no big deal on adding solar because these pipes will go up wall to roof. But if your pump equipment is north because the electric is north (I find pool people don't like to put pump equipment different then AC feeds) you may consider adding pipes for solar now under deck because this would be a cleaner look later. And fewer holes in roof to worry about if piping didn't run from one side to the other on the roof. Same is true about electric needs for the future if adding heat pump, should you add another pipe for a second AC feed now? Cement is so permanent.

I myself have 2 sources of heat for pool (don't like pool unless it's 84-88f) thinking about adding a third Heat pump as the solar it's doing much now in the winter. So now I'm rethinking about the electric AC pool sub-panel now 30amp feed. The electric for HP would need a 50amp so should I have the sub-panel rewired for 80 or 100amp then have to 50amp breaker all together with other pool breakers? Or have to 50amp from the main panel like the 30amp is now?

Per the builder, the in-floor cleaning system allows us an easy way to integrate heat later---but I seriously doubt we'll heat the pool. Arizona is very hot and the summer is long. Solar covers work almost too well here, some friends of mine actually leave the cover off often because the water gets too warm to be refreshing.

Steve, I know Arizona pool will be hot but when a pool is over 90f it sucks. You need to lower the temp so you have these options. A large ICE block in the pool, Solar panels working at night to cool off the pool, or a Heatpump for cooling off the pool. So you may need to have electric pipe or water pipe under the deck, think about. Talk too some people and get their input for these options, now is the time. You will save some $ later or you will like the way it looks.

In the southwest I believe ( correct me if I'm wrong ) the temperature at night usually gets significantly cooler then it is during the day i.e. to the point where it drops a fair amount below the temperature that pool water potentially climbs to. If that's the case then a simple floating device that sprays pool water into the air like a fountain will suffice to cool water temperature with little to no original or operating cost.

Ok, guys I just trying to look forward options. I sold my old house and one reason was I can't get the pool install people to add a spa. They said no I asked 4 times no, I could use another company but I would kill my life warranty for my shell. So if it had a shell leak later I'm on my own. I don't wait to hear you later that you should did this or that.

    DJ,

IMHO Spas are better done as separate installs where they don't share equipment ...

I would think a properly sealed SDA would float very well. It would depend how it landed when it hit the pool. We might have to find one to investigate further.

    When is the party?

I've had pools before, from above ground to in-ground.....pain in the butt. If I were to do it again, salt water is the way to go. My area though requires too much to maintain a pool, opening and closing, heating....which can get very expensive because even in summer in my area the ground temp stays roughly at 58 degrees which means your always running the heat. My neighbor has an inground, gas heated, spends 700 a month in gas to keep the pool at 80 degrees. He can afford that though, the average joe would rather have a Mercedes in his drive way than a pool he can only use 3 months out of the year in my neck of the woods.
