Folks, I feel like I have died and gone to heaven today! Sort of anyways! Wow, I got my new (to me) RTi70's hooked up today with a CSi40, FXi30 surrounds, and some RTi38's thrown in for good measure.... OMGosh, I can't believe how fantastic it sounds! WOW, am I glad I am back!

Here is an excerpt from a post I made a month ago or so, telling what is going on. Enjoy:

"Hey all, with your help I may be coming back to Polk Fold.... Here is my story.

I got into the HT market about 7 years ago with a Polk RT55 setup, which I later changed to an RTi70 setup. I sold my house a year ago, and due to space constraints, sold my Polks. When I got to the new house (only a few months ago), it turns out I was able to utilize a bonus room as a dedicated theater, and began to assemble my theater. I have an Optoma HD70 projector, 120 inch screen, yada yada....

I went out on a limb and bought a set of Klipsch Reference Speakers without really auditioning them very well. They were RF-52s with RC 52 center, a nice little set up I thought would be comparable to my RTi70 setup. I was wrong. I did not get the warmth I got from the Polks.

It was most noticeable to me in a part of a clip of "Animusic" that I had shown a hundred times with my Polks. It just didn't sound good. So I decided to upgrade, and I got the much bigger RF-82's with RC-62 center. Still no go folks, I still just don't quite like the sound.

I am now planning on getting the RTi10's or RTi-12's and will be powering them with a Pioneer Elite VSX-53TX receiver.

Help me decide which to get!

Also, I want to do 7.1, so please help me out with surrounds. My room (and speaker placement) will look alot like this attached picture.

EDIT: My room is 16 feet long, by 15 feet wide. I will be sitting about 11-12 feet from the 120" screen, so help me pick accordingly!"

SO, that is the beginning of the story. I sold off all the Klipsch stuff, and picked up all this polk stuff. I got the RTi's today, and while they were advertised as mint condition, they suffered some damage during shipping so they may go back to the seller. I am so dissapointed in that, since they sound so great!

LISTEN TO THIS: My wife has rolled her eyes at me over last couple of months as I have compained about the Klipsch's I bought. I took her to a store a few weeks ago that had RTi10's and a CSi5 hooked up, and I threw in Animusic Pipe Dreams. That is a clip that I know very well, and sort of use to demo equipment. Anyways, we are watching that, and my wife says "wow, I think that does sound better than the ones we have now." We went home, and listened to it again on my Klipsch's, and she listened for specific spots in the clip that she remembered really liking with the RTi10's. Anyways, I thought that was pretty cool.

So tonight, I am in the theater room, wallowing in the goodness that is the warmth of the new RTi70 setup, loving every second of that animusic clip, and I look up and find my wife standing behind me. Her jaw was on the floor! She says "that sounds way better than the other stuff!!" She couldn't believe it either! Needless to say, I am VERY happy to be back in the polk fold!

So I have RTi70 fronts, CSi40 center, and FXi30 surrounds. I am hoping to get another set of FXi30 or FXi50 surrounds for the theater. For downstairs, framing our 50" Pioneer Plasma, I now have a pair of RTi38's, a CSi30 (which I would still like to upgrade to a CSi40) and am in need of a pair of RTi28's or RT25i's for rears. That room won't acomodate the FXi's.

I A/B'd the RTi38's and RTi70's. The 70's were a clear winner to me, but I still thought the RTi38's sounded wonderful.

Also, the Pioneer Elite Receiver is new to me, and I fun time with it. I played around with 7 channel stereo (using the RTi38's), NEO:DTS 6, and prologicII music, and heard some very nice sounding stuff! I love it!
