1) Should I just get the Tosh HD-DVD player that Zach has offered to me at a good deal?

2)Should I get an XBOX 360 Premium w/ HD-DVD option player for a couple hundred more and have the gaming ability?

3) Or just keep going to my local Wal-Mart every morning from between 10-11am to see if the UPS truck has delivered more PS3s?

The biggest ? will come down to Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD

    1. maybe, if its a good price

    2. NO (if you're just getting it for HD-dvd)

    3. NO (if you're just getting it for blue ray)

my opinion, I think you would be better off just waiting a little while longer.... but thats just me.

Despite my troubles recently, I would say get a 360. But only if you will both game with it, and subscribe to Xbox Live.

Ditto with TB and AM. . .

I'm waiting till there is a universal and competition between manufacturer's drives the prices down. Plus, there will be infinitely more material available at that time, not enough options for rentals or buys right now. . . my $.02 anyway.

If you need a DVD player, get one of the oppo's until new technology is better/cheaper

If you want (don't think the word "need" fits here...:)) a new console, get the one you and your kids will enjoy the most based on games.

I should have mentioned that it's for the boys and I(the consoles anyway) and I want to get the console that will be best for HD movies, too. I'm leaning towards the 360 seeing that it's been out the longest and so has HD-DVDs.

Another reason is our reg XBOX is kaput and the new one will play most of the older XBOX games.

I'll be making a decision by noon today....damn Brown trucks.

The HD-XA1 from OneCall that he is being offered is $399.99 shipped, the Oppo with shipping comes to ~$250. I would say it is definately worth the extra money to get the ability to play HD-DVD. Both upconvert SD-DVD very well.

I'm in the wait camp. My oppo will do just fine until I see bugs and kinks worked out, plus wether blue ray or HD DVD will win the day. I just cant see both formats flourishing.

I think I did pretty well.

Got a NIB Premium XBox 360, the optional X-Box HD-DVD player(which included King Kong HD DVD, all cables, and premium remote), an extra wireless controller, two pre-owned 360 games and a NIB Tosh HDXA1, which included 3 free HD DVD movies and 5 yr extended service contract, all shipped for right around $1100. I may or may not return the XBox HD DVD player, unless I decide to have HD DVD capability on the BR HDTV, so I won't have to move the Tosh from it's permanent local. If I do return it, then I'll get back about $212.

There may have been better deals, but I really don't care about saving $20-30 by spending hours or days trying to find that extra little coupon or whatever.

IMO, I got an outstanding deal, but mainly due to the deal on the Tosh. Could have gotten the XBOX deal just about anywhere.
