I am such a sucker for BIG vintage speakers that I have wanted in my rigs over the years, and these were on the wishlist..............ADS L-1230s 2-8 inch Stifflite woofers per cabinet, 2 inch dome mid, 3/4 inch dome tweeter.
+ or - 3db 30hz to 20khz, 6 ohm, 94dB SPL at 1 watt

Almost identical in physical size and so far as impressive in the fullness of their range as my trusty SDA-1Cs, they throw a soundstage as big as my wall and the bass from the dual woofers each in their own sealed cubby is as tight as you could ask for. Absolutely no flab in here! Of course the mid domes and tweeters are what ADS was known for throughout their line and as sweet as I recall. Those extremely sticky b*stards are dust free too, to my surprise.

The veneer will require some work, but the cabinets built on a contract with the Baldwin Piano Co. are some of the stiffest built cabs I have yet come acrossed.

Good stuff Maynard!!!

Outstanding speakers, dibs when and if broham.

Abernathy has a pair of those, or their big brothers, I forget the model number - and they've lasted longer in his rig than ANY other speaker he's owned so far. I got to hear them at his house, and was floored.

    Cheers,
    Russ

PS - Tracking info late today, early tomorrow for your preamp, finally.

I love ADS speakers and I've heard those before...classic.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I know where I'm coming when I make it home for Christmas. I may just have to load up your 1C's since these are such good replacements ;)

As good as these things sound dirven full range, I have got to find the ADS C2000 active crossover to properly bi-amp these beasts. My Stratos on the bottom end with some 6L6GC monoblocks driving the mids/highs has got to be something to behold.

If anyone knows where I could locate one of these rare pieces, please clue me in or for that matter, any good quality active crossover would do as the biamp mode of these speakers totally disconnects the passive boards within.

Zach, let me know if you come up this way, these are really something to hear!
