Unless you've got a smallish room you won't get much output at 20hz. The kit is a sealed design which means the response starts rolling off in the 30-40hz range. In a larger room you'll need some EQ like the Behringer Feedback Destroyer to boost the low end (or another titanic)

My DIY 15" sub does pretty well in my 14x23 room but I need some EQ to get the low end up. But I don't listen at very high volumes when watching a movie.

Personally, I'd either build a sub myself (no kit) or go with one of the internet sub companies.

It'll take more then an hour of your time especially if you want to do it right. Don't forget to factor in additional tools/supplies or time required to haul the project out to your friend's workshops (beer). ;)

You may consider the time spent as part of the enjoyment/satisfaction quotient but if you really want it now, it may end up being more then you expected. I'd build my own but then I've been planning for a year or more now (i.e. child care). :D

Buy it, build it, be different.

Yeah, it should work fine and it'll probably be far superior to your current AR sub and the psw505. The Titanic subs are highly regarded. The only downside is resell value.

BTW -- you can build it a lot cheaper if you buy the woofer and build the box yourself. Consider getting a separate amp to power it.

I built (ok...put together) the 10" Titanic and it was well worth the time and effort. Mine is a great little sub.
