I've been searching the forums, reading what you've said about your Skyline over the past few years. I can see several places that you've posted a pic and even linked to videos you have of your car, but they're no longer hosted.

So, you have any pics/videos that wouldn't be too difficult to post?

You still taking it to the track regularly?

It's been sitting for a year now, finally getting back on the road in a few weeks once I get new injectors in. Moving from six 720cc injectors to 1000cc's so we'll have enough fuel flowing in. Plans are for a complete engine rebuild soon. I don't have the funds right now but at least we have the ground prepared so we'll be ready when I can afford it (with baby on the way, that might not be soon but who knows).

I have some pictures up at my website, http://skylinegtr.homeip.net/gallery2 and I will see if I can copy the videos there as well tonight. Nothing special as far as videos go but hopefully that will be corrected soon.

Don't mean to be naive or a nay-sayer, but what's the interest / attraction to a Skyline? Is it reknowned for something?

It's a legend in Group A racing, completely dominated the BMW's and Ford's in the early 90's when the modern GT-R came out in '89. Fantastic car to drive fast, and also very easy to modify to get lots of power out of the RB26 block.

You're local so to best understand what it is, you need to come and experience it yourself! ;)

Oh, I thought Skyline meant you went down to Skyline HS in Dallas and bought it off some kid. . . :)

Maybe I'll take you up on the ride sometime since I'm a local yokel.

Engine is really only a part of the equation, but understandably it gets most of the attention nowadays. I'm not sure compact is an accurate term, it's a 3200lb 2+2 GT car. The 4 door sedans would fall into mid-size category I believe.

Here are some specs on non-GTR models: http://www.skylinesdownunder.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=80&Itemid=97

I notice that you have pics of it with two different sets of wheels on it. They both look good, but I was referring to the brass ones...I think the look better with the car.

I bought the car with the chrome R33 GT-R wheels (17"), didn't like them and they were too heavy with wrong offset. The current bronze wheels are 18" Volk Racing CE-28N's, about 17lb per wheel, 265/35 rubber all around.

Wow, that's really light. I've been looking at wheels for our Jetta, and 18.5 pounds seems to be the lightest wheel I've found under a grand, though most are closer to 20 pounds.

What size/offset are you looking for? Those Volk's are about $2500-3000 (street price).

Haha, I really have no idea. I don't know what offset, and I haven't looked into what size would do best for the Jetta yet. Assuming I get the Jetta, aftermarket wheels would be at least a year after that point.

I'm struggling with what I'd do first...audio system, alarm system, wheels, suspension, engine mods, brakes, etc.

That's not really that bad on the Volks, at all.

I would have to assume that's a half mile run.....I could be totally wrong tho but judging by the look of the car, it has a parachute on it so it is probably around a 8-9 second car on the 1/4 so 13-14 on the half sounds right?
It's a run from 0 to 300km/h, that's about 188mph. That car holds the current record, 13 seconds even.

Purple from the guys from exvitermini.com? There are quite a few 7-9s cars out there in AU/NZ; Croydon, Exvitermini etc. The record page should mention most of them. Then there is SDU forums you can check out for more info as well. I haven't really kept up with the news while my car has been down, I'm just updating myself as well now that it is up running and I need to find out info for it.
