Need help on MP3 Players/Acc.

My wife wants an MP3 player for christmas. I know absolutely nothing about these things or their accessories.
She wants to listen to it in the car and at home.

The car, VW Jetta, I'm pretty sure doesn't have MP3 capability, but this unit also does have a CDP and tape deck in one. Some guy she talked to at a store pointed out a converter that goes into the tape deck to listen to it. I know for a fact those are junk because I used to have one years ago for a CDP to a tape deck. But..., like I said, that was many years ago.

As for the home systems I'm looking at Onkyo's DS-A2 for hook-up since it can run out with regular RCA's. Is this feasible? I also don't understand the relation with MP3's and regular DVD/CDP's. I don't even know if my NAD or Onkyo DVDP can play this stuff.

Also, any recommendations on a good player, $100 and below?

Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. I never planned on getting into this junk but looks like I don't have much choice now.

Almost all I have seen are over the $100 mark. The ipod shuffel is $79 but I don't think you can get car adapters for it.

Well, I suppose any MP3 player worth it's salt within reasonable funds. I mean, I don't want to spend $300 on one, cripes, might as well ad to one of my other collections...

A Nano is like, 150 bucks. That's as cheap as you're going to get for something even reasonably decent. A shuffle is 79 dollars but it doesn't even have a screen.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I've always bought the kids ipods. But search BB or CC's web site. The choices are endless. We just got our 7 year old the ipod nano 2 gig for $149.00 so she would stop stealing her sister's. I think it holds like 500 or 1000 songs. Other brands may be cheaper but I can't say how good they are. I'm sure most are fine.
