What is the advantage in having an SACD player and / or a DVD audio player? s it better sound only? Seperate CD's and DVD's that only support these? I know some players do both. Is SACD relegated to strictly CD sound formatting and DVD Audio is a seperate DVD sound format? Thanks again for the replies.

SACD and DVD-A are both hi resolution audio formats. Most discs have stereo and multi channel tracks to choose from too.
It is your choice what type of player to buy. They make SACD only players, SACD/CD players, DVD/DVD-A/CD players or universals that play them all.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable
2 Channel Thorens TD 318 Grado ZF1, SACD/CD Marantz 8260, Soundstream/Krell DAC1, Audio Mirror PP1, Odyssey Stratos, ADS L-1290, ICs-DIY Twisted , Speaker-Raymond Cable -
are they still making dvd-a only players?

I believe Meridian had one DVD-A/CD only player. I can't think of any others, so you'd have to get a universal type for DVD-A. However, there are plenty of SACD/CD only players on the market.Political Correctness'.........defined
