What is the advantage in having an SACD player and / or a DVD audio player? s it better sound only? Seperate CD's and DVD's that only support these? I know some players do both. Is SACD relegated to strictly CD sound formatting and DVD Audio is a seperate DVD sound format? Thanks again for the replies.

SACD and DVD-A are both hi resolution audio formats. Most discs have stereo and multi channel tracks to choose from too.

It is your choice what type of player to buy. They make SACD only players, SACD/CD players, DVD/DVD-A/CD players or universals that play them all.

I believe Meridian had one DVD-A/CD only player. I can't think of any others, so you'd have to get a universal type for DVD-A. However, there are plenty of SACD/CD only players on the market.
