Mounting LSiFX without a stud
Has anybody mounted these speakers on drywall without a stud, using just screws and anchors? I know the manual says it's okay to do that, but I want to be certain.... I'm also a little worried about drilling into a water pipe or something like that... maybe I should just use stands?
Please help me decide... this is just a townhouse rental so I don't want to screw it up. But I would much prefer them wall-mounted than on a stand.
Same for the center channel too.

If you owned it, I would say whatever floats your boat. Then again, I own and stands for me.Michael

Although the LSiFX's are big and heavy, each has two keyhole slots for wall mounting. I use expanding anchor bolts for mine (not plastic anchors), and they haven't fallen down yet. Using anchors will leave holes in your walls that you'll have to fix before moving out though. Use a metal/wood stud finder if you're concerned about hitting something behind the drywall. The speakers should be mounted at least six feet in height to work the way the design is intended to.
Edit: Look for molly bolts or toggle bolts for best results, not plastic anchors. Also, make sure you're not putting an anchor close to the edge of a sheet of drywall panel, and that the drywall itself is not already weakend or not secured well to the wall. -
I've done it- just be sure the anchors are rated for the weight.Gallo Ref 3.1 : Bryston 4b SST : Musical fidelity CD Pre : VPI HW-19

Yes, use large molly bolts which can hold up to 50lbs. The small holes can be easily fixed with a little dry wall mud. Check link.

Thanks - given how easily baffled I was by the toggle bolts, I'm going to hire a local handyman...
