Office Depot stocks things other don't

Twice now I was able to find something at Office Depot that others only carried online. I know online is more convenient but I have a personal preference to buy local when possible.

1. VGA cable: In stock and $5 cheaper than Walmart's online price.

2. Mouse with trackball: In stock and could only find them online everywhere else.

Some things I can see going to a store for, but computer stuff? You just get RAPED at the B&M stores compared to online, and the selection online is untouchable. Go to Office Depot and find a VGA cable and pay what they tell you, great, or go to Newegg.com (or similar) and find a selection of 15 of them in all price ranges.

Yeah, I'll take option B every time.

I'm not saying don't buy online because I completely understand it's more convenient but I'm saying that's my preference. For a $5 cable I'll gladly pay $10 to buy it locally and because of shipping, it's a wash. What I like is Office Depot gives me a choice to order online or take a 10 minute drive after a quick phone to make sure they have it in stock and buy it in person after inspecting it to make sure it's what I want. It appears that they have many items in stock that other retailers only carry online.

I have not checked into it yet, but CompUSA in my area is offering the corporate discount (which ever company you work for) on all items. I work for a major corp. which could be a significant discount. Just go to the business representative desk. Lasts until 12/24. no affil.
