Svs 20-39pc+

The brown truck showed up at my house last night @ 6:30 with my new toy.
I have only done a preliminary set up with it just to to get by. My initial impressions are real good. These things play real deep and can really reap havoc on anything in the house that reasonates or can vibrate. My AVR only has a 90 Htz cut off for my LFE and I think this is causing a dip in Db's between my RTi10's and my SVS when using the tone sweep on the Avia.

I have not had a chance to listen to any music yet.

My 6 year old gave the speaker a bear hug and it made some disturbing sounds.
I have not figured out what it was, Probably my connection. My sub out is fed by coax run through the wall and connected at a plate behind the sub. I think I should probabaly spring for the wire SVS recommend and supplies.

Congrats Scott! I think SVS subs are just uncomfortable around kids. I make weird noises when confronted with lots of little ones, too.

Let me know if you need some bone jarring material for demos. I've been collecting a bunch. The opening scene and the one where Superman's "craft" lands in the first couple of chapters in the new release "Superman Returns" are fabulous. I was a bit worried for my house!

BTW, my 2nd PB12/2 arrives in a few hours! Together, we can probably shake the whole county!

    You got another PB12/2.

That is serious. Does your wife know? Did you send back the PB12+?

I didn't tell my wife until the day before it arrived. She new I was going to buy one but just not when.

I still have not set mine up properly but I am still impressed with what it can do.

And yes, we actually have to get together and do some demo's because I really don't have any references. Nobody I know has a decent system and for that matter even cares about good sound of HT.

I exchanged some wires and the noise has gone away. I also ordered a sub wire from SVS.

Glad you got the noise fixed. Does my wife know - yes, but she doesn't realize fully the implications of such a purchase. The fact that they're so beautifully finished goes a long way to help with the wife acceptance factor. I'm glad she's away this weekend because I have a lot of house shaking planned.

I have a window from about noon on Sunday till around 4pm. If you're around, give me a call.

Congrats again on your purchase. I'm sure you'll love it.

Congrats; great sub; I have mine for almost a year now and I don't even think on upgrading anymore.

What's this 12.3 driver? Is it a new SVS, direct fit? What are the benefits? (Forget the upgrade comment I made above....)

HT - SVS came out with the new 12.3 driver in their subs a few months ago. They offered a nice discount if you wanted to order the new driver and replace the older model in previous subs. The new one is supposed to have better sound quality and is also said to be about 2db more efficient. I would call SVS and see if they will still offer you the upgrade deal. That said, I'm really not sure I'm going to hear a real difference, the older driver is pretty damned good. I'm going to do a DIY sub with my old driver.

I did the driver upgrade a couple of months ago. I immediately noticed the difference because the driver's 2-3 dbs more efficient. Recalibrated...better upper bass definition. It's not night and day, but the 12.3 is a nice upgrade. I have some graphs saved, but for some reason Winzip doesn't want to work and they are too big for attachments, but I've got a flatter FR with just a couple of +/- 5s from 16 - 100, the rest about +/- 1.5 (no EQ).

That's what I said and waited 6 months. Luckily, I know Erik a bit and was able to get the deal. As I said, a nice upgrade for $100, but I wouldn't do it for $200 shipped.
