Whoever said that LSis require a big **** sand amp to really sing, must have never had the right tube amp to do the trick.

I'm still playing, but so far, the Anthem 1 and the LSi7s are a match made in heaven. I'm gonna hook up the Mon 7As to the amp later on. I've got a feeling that will be an even better match.

Mo lata.

    Noel,
Let us know how the 9's behave on that amp. It was just too much for my Dynaco or ASL to handle when I go past moderate volume.

I'll give it a whirl with the LSi9s, but the big McAlister PP-150(once I get the power supply repaired) is slated for that duty. If the McAlister can't do it(which I doubt), I've always got the trusty PSound that'll push 315-325 to each of them. I've got a feeling that the Monitor 7As and the Anthem will mate up almost perfectly. The Jolida will likely drive the LSi7s and I haven't decided on what the SRS 2s will wind up with...maybe the Anthem. If I don't get a deal worked out for a HK AVR 635 for the ASL Wave 20s, then the Wave 20s will go back to Mon 7A duty, which was bliss.

Last night's associated gear was Sheng Ya tube cdp(Amperex 7308 in output duty and Ei Elite 12AX7 in the power stage) into the Dodd ELP(Bugle Boy 6DJ8s) into the Anthem 1 (JJ E34Ls, Bugle Boy 12AX7, and RCA 12BH7s) into the LSi7s. Used the Rapport ICs between the pre and amp, Cobalt Ultimates between source and pre and PS Audio X-Stream Statement Bi-Wires to the speaks.

Russ, I'm very happy to say that the ELP and the Anthem work together, like they were designed for that purpose. Everyone has heard of the hum/hiss/whatever that's been associated with the early ELPs, especially with sand amps, but I even had the issue with different tube amps, too. Well, that is no longer an issue with the Anthem/ELP combo. Unless I can find a tube pre /w remote that can topple the ELP(FOR A REASONABLePRICE) that match will stay together.

I'm still contemplating the Rogue 66, 99 amd Metis, plus a few Carys amongst others.

I'm gonna try the Anthem out with the McAlister ML-33 tube pre tonight.

Awesome, I love the fact you've got some synergy going.

    Cheers,

I never thought to try my Anthem with the 9's. if you do it Noel, keep me posted. I'll say that the Anthem seems to be ballsy for 40 wpc. it manhandled my Bozaks with nary a hint if breaking down at quite high volumes. Now the 9's are far less efficient, but I'm curious at the match since you said you like the sound with the 7's

the Anthem and my Rogers LS-6's are quite a pair. I wish I had a smaller room to put that set up in.

I've only got to listen to the LSi9s with the Anthem for a few songs and I'd think that most would be blown away at the performance that little 40wpc will do for them. Gonna get some critical ears on them tonight. But the final judgement wont't occur till I get some decent stands for them.

Lou, give it a whirl. You've even got good stands, too.

I think you'll find (like I did) that as long as the tubes have warmed up for an hour, the sound is outstanding. Once again quality power is far better than quantity. My Onix SP3 makes the LSi7's sing. It's going to break my heart to return them to Paul DiComo, unless some extra cash comes my way.

I'm going to set up a system by my downstairs TV (used for the gaming rig). I'm gonna break out the Dodd ELP, Anthem Amp1, and the Rogers LS-6's. it will be my mellow out rig, and by default, will be used for video gaming as well. I will need a source, but I have a Onkyo Carousel CD changer for now.

When I get that set up, I'll try the LSi9's on it as well.
