I'm thinking of rebuilding my older polk speaker x-overs. I have 5B's, 11T's and 8T's. My experience with electronics is limited but I have soldered before. I'm not sure what I need to replace. I know from what I've read the caps, anything else? How about if the values of the caps are a little different from the specs of the originals. Also I don't want to spend alot and have been looking at the dayton caps. any thoughts and advice appreciated.

Thanks
Jockos

Sonicaps are my preference, but if cost is a factor, you might want to look at the solen pB series.

Jockos, I'm not quite understanding. What do you want to accomplish? Is there something wrong with the xovers or do you just want to change out with newer parts?

You'll want to replace all the caps, resistors and polyswitches. Values should be within 10% of the stated value, but exact is always better.

Dayton's are rebadged Solens, go with the Solen PB's if on a budget and nothing but Mills resistors. The polys can be had from Polk.

So is the daytons ok? Where would I find solen pb's? Also what value of polyswitch do I get. There's no value on the schematic.

    Thanks

Eff the Dayton's. PB's are better, yet very affordable. There are a lot of caps on the market and Solen's are a good cap, not great, but good and a vast improvement over stock. Where the Solen's sort of fall down is in the high frequencies vs others available (at a higher cost), but again, they are much better than stock.

Call Polk, tell them what models you have and they will send you the correct values.
