Subwoofer In-wall
I think I have decided not to do this already, but am still interested in some thoughts....
Would there be any effect to the sub performance (besides normal placement issues) if I were to build my sub into the wall? I would build it in with it protruding about 1" from the wall. My sub is front firing and slot vented at the bottom front.
I have the room behind the wall in question, and considered doing it as a space saver. I decided to live the the placement I have already in the room though due to concerns with the placement in the wall being pemanent and not being able to test the performance in this position.
Would there be any negetive effects with building it into the wall? I can't think of any.

i would think that it would make your walls shake and to most this is not a desireable effect. doesnt polk have a subwoofer to put under your floor, i dont know if this is an option for you? most subs have their controls on themselves and if your sub is inwall then how would you make adjustsments to it? just some food for thought. sounds likea fun project though.

I need to get some pictures posted. I built a wall out from the foundation in my basement so there was a nice clean look to the front of theater and have access to all cables, electricity, etc behind the wall.
I have decided against another hole in the wall, but couldn't think of any reason that it wouldn't be ok.
This has been a long project, but I am extremely excited about how it turned out. I just moved the rig down their yesterday and am busy dialing things in. Overall, everything sounds awesome. It is a much better sound room than my living room was.HT

I'd go with an inwall subwoofer like Polk's. Better yet, I'd go with two. I'm not sure how you go about testing for best sub placement on these types of subwoofers, which would be my primary concern. Remember test twice, cut once, hehe.
