Hey guys,

I am seriously considering the Strata Mini from AV123. I have their Onix X line and love them. Ive read alot about the Mini and it seems to be quite amazing for the price. Right now they have a package deal at AV123 that gives you the Mini, SP3 Integrated Tube amp. and a pair of Ref .5.

I have never experienced tubes before (other than in SS vs Tubes in guitar amps) But i really want to try them and this looks like an excelent way to get into tubes and get a kickass 2ch setup. My only concern is that the SP3 wont be enough power for the Minis. Although i dont think they would package two products that dont match well together.

I read Joey's review and he talks about how the Mini loved his Plinus, which is far more power than the 38 watt SP3. Any thoughts?? Thanks!

The SP3 should be able to power the Minis seeing as that the bass woofers are self powered. I dont think you would have trouble going Minis and SP3.

    Thanks

    Joey,

Did you like the Mini's enough say that you would buy them? Obviously you like your MLs more, but if you had that kind of money to spend, would you spend it elsewhere? or on the Mini? $2000 gets me the Mini's and SP3. I realize its objective but i havent been able to hear much gear around that level. Thanks! Other opinions welcome too.

    Jake,

If I had $1500 to buy speakers with, would I buy the Minis?

    Hmm....

It is very possible. However, there are other speakers in the $1500 range that I have not heard. I would say that I would try to get a hold of the Magnepan 1.6 and compare it with the Minis before knowing for sure. However, the Minis do not do much wrong, they do everything well, as I said in my review.

That said, that is not to say that what the Minis do well cant be improved, but as an overall, the Minis are surely worth the $1500 you are going to spend in getting a pair, IMO.
