Built into the wall, tucked under trimming, or an invisibility cloak.

Depending on your specific situation.
above options or......
add some sort of trim to the existing that will accomodate the wire......
you could peel back carpet (if you have carpet), cut a quarter inch of the underlay away and run the wire along the inside of the smooth edge.
Just a couple of more options.
Good luck,

Hey, I kinda like that "invisibility cloak" idea.:)

easiest of all options, depending on how much wire but you can run them along baseboard where the wall meets the carpet/floor and there are these like small hook like things that you can nail into the wall (small nails). although this doesnt hide wires it keeps the wires unsightlyness down to a minimum especially for long runs to surround speakers.

I was recently advised by a friend who installs audio systems to buy flat speaker wire and run it under the carpet using fish wire. Apparently you need to cut a slit in the carpet at each end.

carpet usually pulls up near the baseboards so you shouldnt have to cut a hole in each side. you can also cut a groove in the carpet padding if you like to make room for your speaker wire. mine just runs on top of it along the edges and you cant notice a bump unless you step it on hard.

I drilled holes from the first floor thru to the basement and ran the wires in the basement ceiling back thru a hole to the living room speakers. You could pull the carpet back but you'll need seem tape if you have to pass a door way that has 2 carpets joined.Michael
