hey everybody, does anyone have advice on what type of an amp i should get to power a pair of MMC6500. Also does anyone have a good spot to hide an amp in a 2002 Tahoe?

Why not go with a Polk amp? The C400.4 wouldn't be a bad match up for it. And it's not too big, so I'm sure it could be put under a seat somewhere.1993 Ford Ranger super cab:

what do you think about this one http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_6569.html# its quite a bit cheaper but rated around the same amount of power. The kicker ZX250.2?2002 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 4x4:

i have an 05 chevy equinox with the 6500's run by the 400.4 and it fits perfectly under the seat...so you should have no problem placing it there

I'm looking to power a pair of MMC6500 with the C400.4 also. I'm thinking of going crazy so this is my plan. MMC6500 in front powered by the C300.2, and MMC6500 mounted in rear doors along with the MMC690 in rear panel, both of these will be powered by the C400.4.
Its either that or just MMC6500 up front, MMC690's in the rear and use the C400.4 to power those (difference being i wont have MMC6500 mounted in rear door panels so i wont need the C300.2 either)
i'm gonna need another battery or a cap or something, my tiny battery wont be able to handle it.
Most Polk products are under rated, so don't be fooled. they make excellent products. I just ordered the MM2124, and an amp kit from sonicelectonix.com cuz they have great prices, i'd recommend using them or cardomain.com. cant wait for my c500.1 and mm21 to get here! -
Sounds like a good plan! Youll have plenty of volume.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

black magic - I don't know how you could swing this with your setup, but I'd much prefer running the MMC6500 off the C400.4. One big benefit of doing that is you'll gain a lot more flexibility with tuning options. Power is the other benefit. If you go with components in the front and rear doors, and the 6x9's in the rear deck, each component set in your rear doors will only be getting 75 watts; I don't like that. However, they are rear speakers, so you'll hopefully have them faded out at least a little bit.
If it were my sytem, I think I would probably put a C400.4 with the front MMC6500's and then get a C300.2 to power a set of MMC6500 in the rear doors, completely foregoing the 6x9's.
Whichever way you do it, though, will be sure to please.George Grand wrote: »

i think i see what you mean, so overall its better to have to rear speakers louder?
if i was only gonna have 1 pair of speakers in the rear, wouldnt the mmc690's be a better choice since they give off more mid-bass? -
I guess I didn't word that too clearly...kinda seems to be my trademark...
Speaking strictly from a sound quality perspective, it's best to not even have rear speakers. Rear speakers will pull your soundstage back and mess with your imaging. However, some people like rear fill, and others want their passengers to have good sound, so rear speakers were created.
As for why I chose the MMC6500's for the rear oppossed to the 6x9's, the MMC6500's would offer better sound quality for the rear passengers, and it wouldn't mess with the front soundstage/imaging too much, since they'd be firing backwards instead of forwards like the 6x9's in the rear deck would be.George Grand wrote: »

Wow. A C300.2 for $100. I have no use for it, and wouldn't wanna use it because I wanna biamp for more flexibility...but I'm so tempted to get one for that price.George Grand wrote: »

Thanks bro, but dont worry about it.
Ive got a couple other things I guess I should get squared away before I worry about new amps. Maybe by the time Im ready for some, theyll have those on sale again.
I wonder why nobody carries the 300.2 anymore? You cant find them on Sounddomain or Crutchfield. I havent even seen any on Ebay lately.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
