How many different companies make the HD player?
My HT set-up Panasonic front proj, 120 in ws screen, ATI amp,Integra 9.8 pre-pro, 2 Polk rti150, cp 1000, 4 fx 1000, Pioneer blu-ray 2 SVS sub pb 12-ultra 2, & Paragon popcorn popper. ps 3 Coaster leather HT recliners.

Toshiba and RCA are the only ones that make a true HD-DVD player, with the RCA being a rebadged Toshiba. I am not sure if the XBox version counts as a separate company, as I think Toshiba makes it as well(may be wrong on this one though). So to really answer your question, Toshiba is the only company that "makes" the HD player.
Samsung, Panasonic, and Sony make the BD-players at this point. There are others in the works, from other companies, but I think those are the only ones available at this time.Tschüss

I have heard from reviews that the X-box 360 hd drive is a lot quicker than the Toshiba.Everything I own burned in the fire!!!!!!!!!!
