Just wanted to let you all know the Beatles are releasing the 'Love' cd
today from the Cirque show. It also comes in a special edition with a dvd that contains a 5.1 mix in dd, DTS and dvd audio. Reviews I've read are spectacular. I'll be buying it later today and blasting it tonight. Will be interested in hearing what others think of the 5.1 mix. Anyone already heard it in 5.1?

I heard a few short cuts on the radio today. All I can say is the mix is very odd and I won't be buying that one.

Another thought on the matter. G. Martin needs to let someone who knows how to mix, remix the Beatles catalog the right way. His mixes are gawd awful.

I agree with Jesse about George Martin and letting someone remaster the entire Beatles catalog! When the Beatles were first released on cd many years ago the technology wasn't near as good as it is now and IMHO the Beatles catalog deserves the very best and it definitely is long over due! The only fear I would have would be that the dynamic range could be lost if they are remastered too hot like most of todays cds.

A fear realized by too many of us.

It would be a crying shame. Agreed about Martin.

I stopped and listened to a few tracks at the local CD shop.

    Pffft...I'll pass.

George Martin is over 80 and he has said this is his last project so he won't be remastering the catalog. Supposedly this is being done as we speak.
I think you guys are missing out not buying 'Love' though, it's a blast!
I saw the show a couple of weeks ago and it's fantastic. I know you're not a 5.1 music fan, F1, but this 'Love' dvd audio is absolutely fantastic in 5.1!
I listened to it endlessly last night. There are so many little bits in these songs you never heard before. The vocals are mostly in the center channel which allows you to really hear them. You can hear John spitting at you
when he sings 'pigs in the stye' from Walrus. I have friends who will extract these different mixes from each channel and we'll soon have isolated Beatle vocals which will be great. Paul sings a vocal in Helter skelter which is downright manic. I'm a Beatles fan from the 64 Ed Sullivan show and hearing this cd is a revelation on many levels. If you know someone with a dvd audio player and a 5.1 system, give it a spin. You'll be grinning from ear to ear.

You won't find a bigger Beatles fan than me and I was really hoping this album would be a high rez. surround sound remastering of the songs in the show, not the actual arrangements as they are in the show. As I said, I love the Beatles, but, I'm sorry, this album blows! The mishmash is aggravating and they have left out almost everything from Rubber Soul save for a bit of "The Word". I realize this is for a Vegas show, but it did not warrant an album release. Does anyone know what the timetable is for the possible release of the remastered albums?
